Weekly Memo 1/23/2017
MISSION
We will lead all students to be productive citizens.
VISION
Lake Worth High School provides a customized learning experience that values individual growth and achievement.
GOALS
1. During the 2016-2017 school year, LWHS will increase the amount of time students are reading and/or writing in all core classes every day and in all elective courses at least once per week by reviewing walk-through data, student assessments, and student artifacts in PLCs.
2. By the end of the 2016-2017 school year, 70% of staff will rate school climate and culture questions as favorable (agree and strongly agree) on the annual staff survey.
3. By the end of the 2016-2017 school year, 20% of students will have participated in non-traditional modes of learning that include blended and virtual coursework by evaluating end-of-year course data.
INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK
- Please nominate a teacher for the 3rd 6 weeks by sending me an email with a brief reason why you are nominating them.
- This week you will receive an "Educator Award Nomination Form 1st Round." You will name your selection for Teacher of the Year. These will be due by the end of the day on Friday, 1/27. The following week you will vote on the top 3. These are sent to the Northwest Tarrant County Chamber.

- Remember 2/1 is the LWHS Showcase. All teachers are expected to attend. (This takes the place of a spring Open House.
- The Leadership Team will meet on Thursday this week at our normal time since our staff meeting (7:30 am and 4:15 pm) is on Wednesday. (Please bring some writing samples if you have them.)
- Note that there is a senior meeting this Wednesday and we are on advisory on Thursday.
- Thanks to those of you that are contributing to the "Shout Out" board. It is great to hear about your colleagues and what's happening here at LWHS!
- Please continue to look a the calendar each week. I will only include items in this memo that I think are unique, that you need pay special attention to, or are for some reason not on the calendar.
Leadership Meeting Notes and Reminders
This weeks notes are from our student advisory meeting since the Leadership Team did not meet.
- A couple of students expressed concerns about teachers actually leaving the classes to talk to other teachers and leaving them alone.
- We discussed student surveys. One student stated that their teacher did not have there advisory participate, another stated that the teacher only had them do it for that one period.
- I presented course change requests at the board meeting that I will share with the staff on Wednesday.
- I presented what it would mean to be a District of Innovation that I will also share this week.
- Time ran out as we began discussing tardies and attendance.
