Student Face-to-Face Instruction Delayed !
Based on an increase in COVID-19 cases DeKalb County has delayed re-opening plans and students will not return to face-to-face instruction on January 19, 2021. DCSD considered the indicators identified by the CDC that include the percentage of RT-PCR tests (positivity rate)when deciding to delay or re-open DCSD schools. According to the guidance of the CDC, a positivity rate of 10% or higher puts us at the highest risk of transmission. As of Thursday, January, 13, the positivity rate for DeKalb is 14.9.
A School Board Meeting was held on January 11, and the Superintendent and board members decided to focus on the implementation of school readiness and mitigation strategies.

- Evaluating our Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and hygiene supplies.
- Distribution of Cleaning Supplies & Procedures
- Socially Distant Seating and Space Arrangement

To ensure employee and student safety the district will implement the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) five key mitigation strategies to further reduce the spread of the virus such as:
- Consistent and correct use of masks
- Social distancing to the largest extent possible
- Hand washing
- Cleaning and disinfecting
- Contact tracing in collaboration with DeKalb Board of Health
The District will host a virtual town hall for parents with Superintendent Watson-Harris on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, from 6 to 7 p.m.
