From the Principal
We are excited to have started our continuous learning plan this week! Teachers are using Seesaw and Zoom as their main platforms for delivering live and recorded instruction as well as choice boards with additional learning activities. In order to add additional security to our Zoom classrooms, I have asked teachers to add passwords and also enable the waiting room feature so they control who they let in the "classroom".
I also wanted to remind you that Miss Zee will be answering the main phone line daily and if you are experiencing any technical issues with your iPad or any of the programs, you can reach out to our IT department at 785-330-HELP (4357) or itworkorder@usd497.org.
Due to Kansas approaching its peak of the virus in the next couple of weeks, tomorrow will be my last day in the building for a while. Due to this I will not be available to distribute any more devices at this time. You can still reach me via email and my office number will be forwarded to my cell phone. My office number is 785-832-2515.
We have enjoyed seeing the pictures of our scholars participating in our virtual spirit weeks! Check out our scholars who honored healthcare workers for World Health Day. We hope this is bringing some daily joy to our scholars!
As always it is an honor to serve as the principal of Sunflower Elementary.

Yearbook:
Even though we have moved over to online learning, we still have the memories we made this school year! We are accepting online orders for the yearbook! Yearbooks are on sale online at https://bit.ly/2njoZn7. Yearbooks are $15.00. We anticipate they will be ready later in May.
More information regarding how yearbooks will be distributed will be communicated soon.
Kindergarten Orientation:
In person orientation has been cancelled and is not rescheduled at this time. We are looking at alternative ways to hold to get families with incoming kindergarten students more information about our kindergarten program. Until then, we will continue to enroll next year’s Kindergartners! Please enroll your child online here.
Enrollment will not only let us know your child will be attending, it also gives us your contact information. We will reach out to you when we have more information regarding next school year.
Middle School Enrollment:
The enrollment deadline has been extended to April 20th.
Middle Schools will be sending out emails to all 5th grade parents to complete the enrollment process. There will be a link provided in these emails, please click on the link even if you think you have completed the enrollment process as additional information may be required.
