Biddeford Center of Technology

October Update
Dear Students and Parents,
It is hard to believe that we are approaching the end of the first quarter. On November 1, we will hold parent-teacher conferences. Each of our instructors will send parents information regarding meeting times. Information specific to parent conferences will be sent to you, but please be on the lookout for an invitation.
ASYNCHRONOUS LEARNING ON NOV 7
Based on a recommendation from the City of Biddeford, the School Committee voted to provide asynchronous learning for students who attend Biddeford High School (Grades 8-12) and Biddeford Regional Center of Technology on Election Day- Tuesday, November 7th. We hope this early notification will allow for advance planning.
We expect a high voting turnout with the current ballot of the mayor, school construction bond, and other important referendum items leaving parking at a premium. In addition, the current renovation on the campus does not allow for the usual handicapped parking in the back lot near Tiger Gym. Students will not report to campus and access their asynchronous work through their Google Classrooms with directions provided by their respective teachers. Staff will continue to report to work and participate in professional development.
PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE
One of the unique characteristics of our school's programming is that each of our programs has a Program Advisory Committee. The committee is made up of industry representatives, a parent, current and past students, and college representatives. Committee members play multiple roles and the primary function is to advise us on current and future trends, equipment needs, internship, and work opportunities so that we are always focused on improvement and innovation. The committee meets at least twice a year. If you should receive an invitation, I encourage you to participate as your feedback is valuable. If you would like to participate, please contact your child's instructor. It is a great way to learn more about the intricacies of the program.
STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
At the end of each month, BRCOT instructors have the opportunity to nominate students to be recognized as the student of the month for their programs. When nominating students for this recognition, instructors are asked to choose students who demonstrate leadership, attendance, quality of work, reliability, responsibility, initiative, and academic performance at a very good or outstanding level.
