FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Father Doyle Families,

Thank you so much for joining us for parent-teacher conferences this week! I pray that conferences were fruitful and informative for you and your child.

As we wrap up conferences, we're blessed to be looking forward to so many wonderful community events in the coming weeks! This includes the Snowflake Bazaar (scan the QR code at right for more information!), our middle school Pumpkin Decorating Contest (10/28), Spooktacular Trunk or Treat (10/29), and the FJVD Veterans' Day Prayer Service (11/8).

All of these wonderful events, and the many others coming soon, are a beautiful reminder that Father Doyle School is much more than just a building where learning occurs. It is a beautiful, vibrant school and parish community where students, families, faculty, and staff learn, grow, and celebrate together. How blessed we are to share in this beautiful community!

To that end, please be sure to review all of the information below, as it contains important details regarding upcoming events, initiatives, and opportunities. Thank you for reading!

Saints John and Paul 65th Annual Snowflake Bazaar

Saturday, October 22nd 9am-4pm; and Sunday, October 23rd 8am-1pm

Join the parish community for handmade holiday crafts, gift card bingo, food, raffles, and more... including Santa's first appearance of the Christmas season! Click here for more details!

Dress Down Day for Charity - Thursday, October 27th

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. With this in mind, Father Doyle School will be holding a dress down day for charity on Thursday, October 27th in support of cancer research. Students are encouraged to wear pink to show their support, and there is a suggested $2.00 donation to dress down.

Annual Spooktacular Trunk or Treat - Saturday, October 29th, 6:30pm

Join us for our annual trunk or treat event on Saturday, October 29th! The evening will include a trick-or-treat opportunity for all students as they visit extraordinarily decorated Halloween trunks. Admittedly, it is one of my favorite events of the year! If you plan to attend, are able to donate candy, or would like to decorate your trunk for the event, please RSVP by 10/22 using the form here. Please note, candy distributed at this event may contain peanuts and/or tree nuts.

FJVD is Seeking Basketball Coaches for the 2022-2023 Season!

Do you have experience playing or coaching basketball? Would you be interested in coaching students in Grades 4-8? We are currently seeking coaches for the 22-23 CAL Basketball season. We are not able to run these programs without your support! Please reach out to Mr. Peloquin via email at kevinpeloquin@fjvd.org for additional information. Thank you!

Introducing Middle School Parents' Night - RSVP Today!

Middle school is often a challenging time for students as they transition away from elementary school and towards high school. To that end, it is even more essential that parents of middle school students have the appropriate supports and information to be the best advocates for their students.

With this in mind, Mrs. Coutu and Mr. Peloquin will be hosting a Middle School Parents' Night on Wednesday, November 9th beginning at 6:30pm. There will be both an in-person and Zoom attendance option, and we are encouraging all middle school parents to attend.

Topics for the night will include:

  • Accessing and utilizing FACTS to monitor student progress
  • Understanding and supporting student use of the agenda
  • Overview of helpful study skills and strategies
  • Effective use of study hall and teacher office hours
  • Helpful tips around teen use of electronics

Please RSVP at the link here no later than Monday, November 7th. Again, both Zoom and in-person options are available!

Lastly, please note that I will be out of the office on Tuesday, October 25th, as I have been asked to serve as chair on a NEASC Visiting Committee. NEASC - the New England Association of Schools and Colleges - is the accreditation organization for most Catholic schools in our area, including Father Doyle School. Serving as chair for this upcoming accreditation visit at a regional school will be good preparation for our next NEASC accreditation visit here at Father Doyle School, which is scheduled to occur in the Fall of 2026.

Don't forget to keep scrolling below for photos and more information! Have a great weekend! God bless, and Go Saints!

Sincerely,

Mr. Peloquin
