The goal will be to prepare students to participate in the Oral Interpretation Festival where they will recite poetry or prose in front of an audience and judges for adjudication. It鈥檚 not a contest, but we will prepare to perform at our highest levels.
Participation is limited.
If needed, tryouts will be held.
The commitment deadline is February 9. (The school will register committed students and pay the registration fee.)

Attendance Corner - Everything you need to know!!
School starts promptly at 8:30 am. Students are considered tardy when they arrive any time after 8:30. Tardies are expected to be infrequent and/or non-recurring.
What is an excused tardy?
Examples of excused tardiness include: illness, medical appointments verified with doctor's note, court appointments verified with a note, etc.
What is an unexcused tardy?
Examples of an unexcused tardy include: overslept, missed bus, an unspecified appointment with no verification, personal reasons, etc.
Students who are over thirty minutes late without a verifiable reason are considered truant! Attendance letters are generated after 3 days of unexcused tardies.
Bottom line: Your student needs to be on time for school to have optimal success. As always, please call or email our office to let us know when your student is going to be late! 馃槈

Nurse's Corner
Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease is caused by viruses. A person infected with one of these viruses is contagious, which means that they can pass the virus to other people.
The virus can spread to others through an infected person鈥檚
路 Nose and throat secretions, such as saliva, drool, or nasal mucus
路 Fluid from blisters or scabs
路 Feces (poop)
People with hand, foot, and mouth disease are usually most contagious during the first week that they are sick. People can sometimes spread the virus to others for days or weeks after symptoms go away or if they have no symptoms at all.
How it spreads
You can get hand, foot, and mouth disease by
路 Contact with respiratory droplets containing virus particles after a sick person coughs or sneezes
路 Touching an infected person or making other close contacts, like kissing, hugging, or sharing cups or eating utensils
路 Touching an infected person鈥檚 feces, such as changing diapers, then touching your eyes, nose, or mouth
路 Touching objects and surfaces that have the virus on them, like doorknobs or toys, then touching your eyes, nose, or mouth
Because it is common and usually mild, children can continue to go to childcare and schools as long as they:
路 Have no fever.
路 Have no uncontrolled drooling with mouth sores.
路 Feel well enough to participate in classroom activities.
Talk with your child鈥檚 healthcare provider if you are still not sure when it is okay for them to return. In some cases, the local health department may require children with HFMD to stay home to control an outbreak.
