One Word 2023
January is a great time to reflect on our personal dreams and goals. Bridge Valley is taking time this month to help children identify One Word they would like to focus on in 2023. Their chosen word could be something as simple as what they want to work on, what they want to change, or something they are hoping to accomplish. Students’ words along with their doodles will be on display in the main hallway for the month of January. Staff members will have their words on display in the Tollbooth. Ask your child what their word is and ask them why they chose their word. You might be surprised by their word choice. What would be your One Word for 2023?

Important Information:
Attendance--Parents and guardians will be able to submit absence requests via the Parent Portal. Parents can request a full day absence, early dismissal, or late arrival. Absence requests will be reviewed by School Attendance Staff and approved or denied.
Requests made using the Parent Portal will also serve as the excuse for the absence. Parents will not be required to submit an excuse either electronically or written if submitted on the Parent Portal.
Family travel/vacation requests — Please submit all travel requests through the Parent Portal. School Board Policy states that only 5 days per year may be approved for family trips. Any days beyond the initial five days per year will be considered unexcused absences.
Arrival and dismissal—Student arrival begins at 8:15am until classes start at 8:35am. Please do not drop your students off prior to 8:15am as our staff supervision does not begin until then. For the safety of our students, we ask that you sign your children in at the office if they arrive to school after 8:35am.
Dismissal begins at 3:15pm. Most buses have left the building by about 3:35pm.
During car rider dismissal, we ask that you please wait in the car line, remain in your vehicle, and have your child enter your vehicle from the sidewalk side for safety purposes.
Safety information—During school hours all exterior doors are locked. All visitors are required to use the main entrance. Please ring the buzzer, sign-in at the office, show identification, and wear a visitor’s badge.

From the School Nurse: Friendly Reminder
Dear Central Bucks Families,
Cold and flu season has arrived! Below are some tips regarding exclusion periods for sick children as well as some preventative tips. Please adhere to these guidelines and make note of the suggested habits. Let’s work together to keep our school community and our homes as healthy as possible!
In the event your child becomes ill, please keep them home if they have a fever over 100.4, vomiting or diarrhea. They must be fever-free, vomit free, and diarrhea free for 24 hours without medication to return to school. This will help prevent the spread of illness and assist us in maintaining a healthier school environment.
Frequent hand washing is the BEST way to prevent and combat the spread of germs! Wash hands often with soap and water or hand sanitizer. Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or use an elbow or arm if no tissue is available. Do not share drinks, food, or unwashed utensils. Get plenty of rest, eat healthy foods, and drink lots water and healthy drinks (soda doesn’t count!) Avoid people that are sick and stay home when you are sick. Disinfect surfaces that are prone to germs (ex. phones, keyboards, doorknobs, toothbrushes). It’s not too late to get your flu shot!
