Dates: Italian: Started around 1350 to 1550 A.D. Northern: 1400 to 1600 A.D. Italian Renaissance art and Northern Renaissance art was made from new ideas and techniques. People started sculpting, painting, and drawing the human body, space, and the laws of proportion for architexture. Italian and Northern Renaissance Art started in the city states of Italy but soon spread across to Northern Europe. Many pieces of art in this time period were portraits of people. Also, most of them were done for religious purposes.
