"Music Counts Every Day" at HES - The music this week is from the New World Symphony by Dvorak.
The question this week is:

Leslie Simmons - 2nd Grade Classroom Teacher
I grew up in the suburbs of Boston and got my undergraduate degree from Allegheny College in Pennsylvania. I returned to the Boston area where I taught preschool while earning my masters degree at Wheelock College. I also taught kindergarten and third grade before moving to the Cape. I have been teaching first and second grades at H.E.S. for 27 years and have been fortunate enough to see my former students become adults and return with children of their own! When I am not at school, you can find me running, camping, hiking, gardening, and spending time with my wonderful husband and two entertaining teenagers.
Kristen Gvazdauskas - 2nd Grade Classroom Teacher
Ashley Cook - 2nd Grade Classroom Teacher
I worked at HES for many years in the afterschool program but this will be my first full-time teaching assignment. I graduated from Salem State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education as well as a double major in History. As a Harwich native and graduate from the Harwich Public Schools, my Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers remembered me as a student with a passion for learning and teaching. I knew since I was a child playing “school” that I always would want to be a teacher! Inspired by many teachers, I'm always looking for new and fun ways to make education exciting for my students. When not in school I enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, hiking, fishing, sports and spending time with my family. I am looking forward to a fantastic year with my students, parents and Monomoy community!
PTO Scholastic Fall Book Fair will be in the HES Activity Room all next week (see below). Family Night will be Thursday, November 17th 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
