The Summer Read 2 Write and Study Skills Camp is designed for students entering 5th-8th grades

In this Enrichment Camp, students will learn and practice practical and relevant LITERACY STRATEGIES designed to strengthen the reading/writing connection. This learning will lead to successful organized, structured writing. In addition, students will develop useful STUDY SKILLS to build success in all academic settings.


Study Skills:

• Time management and organizational skills

• Test-taking and note-taking skills

• Google Apps for Education


Informational Reading:

• Annotation (for targeted writing tasks)

• Compare and Contrast (for argument and explanatory writing tasks)


Expository/Explanatory Writing:

• Pre-Write Organizers

• Structural Sentence Starters

• Student Exemplars
