Holiday Events and Alternatives
December 3-6, Holiday Shoppe
Students will visit the Holiday Shoppe during either Technology class or Enrichment class one time this week. Students will have the opportunity purchase inexpensive gifts for family members. Only students who bring money to spend will go to the Holiday Shoppe.
December 19, Holiday Sing-a-long 9:30 AM
All students will gather in the gym to sing songs of the holiday season. A few examples of songs are Frosty the Snowman and Winter Wonderland.
December 19, Holiday Parties 1:30-2:30 PM
Holiday Parties for all grades will be held on Thursday, December 19 from 1:30-2:30 PM. Check in will begin at 1:00 PM. Please be advised that we will be using the church across the street for overflow parking.
Alternative to Holiday Activities
This year, we are also offering alternative non-holiday activities including a snack provided by our school counselor and our counseling intern. If you would like your child to participate in the non-holiday activities, please contact Mrs. School at rschool@nortonschools.org.

Panthers' Clawset
Did you know that NES has a closet for gently used clothing, jackets, and shoes? Please contact the office if you are in need of items for students in grades 1-4. Our office staff can also assist you in finding clothing for preschoolers and students in grades 5-12.
NES also has additional backpacks and school supplies. Please contact the office if your child is in need of school supplies or a new backpack!
WINTER COATS ARE HERE
We have received a donation of NEW winter coats for this winter. If you are in need of a winter coat for your child, please call the office and asked to be placed on a list (330) 825-3828.
Attendance
Student anxiety is a common reason for keeping children home. Please know that we have supports in place to help students here at school. Our counselor, Mrs. School, has a Monday morning group that meets to overcome anxiety early in the week. Our teachers are currently being trained with strategies to equip students that may be facing anxiety about school. Please consider sending your child to school, even when they may seem upset. We are equipped to help them. It is very likely that your child will participate fully in school once they arrive in the classroom.
There have been updates to the law regarding absences due to documented illness for students. If your child missed school or part of the school day due to a medical appointment, PLEASE TURN IN A DOCTOR'S NOTE. This note will help the office keep accurate records and will not count toward a student's excessive absent count.
