THE VIKING
Hinesburg Community School - September 27, 2019
Many thanks for the great turnout at the HCS K-4 Open House last night! It was wonderful to see the excitement from students and parents as they toured classrooms. It was also fun to see the creative student artwork displayed throughout the school. Thank you as well to our team of Essential Arts teachers who shared with parents their enthusiasm for the 2019-2020 school year!
Warmly,
Suzan & John

You may have been hearing students talk about the new HCS SEED Space! HCS received a CVSD Innovation Grant to create this new opportunity for students. The SEED Space is a shared PreK-8 community space located in the White Building. The SEED Space is a place to promote self-regulation, interpersonal skills, and build relationships and stronger connections student to student and staff to student. If you have any questions or want to know more about the SEED Space please contact school counselor Vicki Nelson.

PiE Fall Fundraiser - Our Biggest Yet!
Dear HCS Parents/Guardians,
Today, PiE is launching a fall fundraiser - your student will or already have come home with catalogs and order information from Meadow Farms Fundraising and Red Barn. Feel free to shop from these catalogs, or shop online [school ID# is 1126003].*
This is our biggest fundraiser of the year with a goal of $8,000.
All the money raised goes right back into our school in the form of grants to teachers, funding for enrichment activities, support for the school garden and other educational projects that benefit the whole school community. To reach this goal we need a majority of students to sell at least 5 items. We encourage all families to participate. We earn up to 40% profit from all sales.
Donβt forget the power of email. We encourage you to reach out to your networks, including friends and out of town relatives, to help increase sales. The sales kit your child brings home will explain how easy it is for you to shop online and support HCS. We are very excited to make this a highly successful event for our school!
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
PiE
If you are not interested in shopping from these catalogs, please consider writing a check directly to HCS PiE or going on-line to our webpage and donating there. It's a lot less hassle for the fundraising team and a lot more efficient for everyone involved. Thanks for your support!
PiE Pumpkin Sale @ Harvest Festival
Please click HERE to sign up
PiE will be selling pumpkins at the Hinesburg Fall Festival at the United Church to raise money for PiE programming. The pumpkin sale is a fun and easy way for families to volunteer. Adults are needed for sales (kids can help) as we are collecting money (credit card purchases, cash/checks). On Saturday PiE will also be overseeing one or two easy kid activites (think pumpkin bowling and temp tattos). This is great job for kids with some parent supervision. The pumpkin sale will be held in front of the United Church on Saturday (with Fall Festival) and Sunday (before puppet show).
Pumpkins were locally grown at Full Moon Farm, a PiE community partner. Thank you Full Moon Farm!
PiE fundraising directly benefits students at Hinesburg Community School. Our four main areas of focus are: Student Enrichment, Community Building, Family Support, and Staff Appreciation.
Lost & Found
Are you missing a water bottle? A sweatshirt? Perhaps a pair of rain boots?
Please check our Lost & Found, located (temporarily) in the main hallway of HCS.
(We have eyeglasses as well, in the office for safe keeping).
Crossing Guard
Reminder: The HCS crossing guard does not start until 7:30 each morning. For the safety of our students, please do not send your child/children to school earlier than 7:30. Thank you!
