What's going on at RMS?

Last week around 100 students and 30 adults from the Russellville City School System and community had the opportunity to participate in Challenge Day. Challenge Day was designed to help individuals share and connect as human beings. It also promoted building compassion for each other and ignited the desire to be a positive change in the world.

The theme of the Challenge Day was to "Be the Change." So how do we become the change that we want to see in our family, school, community, country, and world? Ultimately, change begins with each individual. I came across the following article and thought it was exactly the message Challenge Day was trying to send:

Whatever changes you would like to see has to begin with you!

  • Let every moment be an example of what you teach and counsel.
  • Let your every action be a reflection of your belief.
  • Let you every word be a reflection of your own thoughts.
  • The best leaders the world has ever known are the reformers who are accountable and responsible for their own change.
  • The commitment for change has no days off, does not allow for excuses, and does not allow for pardons.
  • It's a true commitment - a commitment to lead with heart to add value to the world.

Changing our face can change nothing. But facing our change can change everything.

  • Each one of us can leave a stamp on this world by making our lives meaningful in a thousand ways and making the lives of others better than they ever though possible.
  • If you want to see change, you must first start within. It's that simple and it's that profound.

Think of the opportunities we have each day to "be the change" in the lives of our students. Make each day count and commit yourself to being the change that you want to see. Impact our students by being the best possible role model and example you can be and show what love and compassion truly look like.

Celebrating Attendance Awareness Month

Thanks to all of you who participated with our students in our dress up days for Attendance Awareness Month. Please help us continue to encourage students to be at school each day!

Parent Involvement Month

October is Parent Involvement Month. RMS will be participating in many activities that provide opportunities for our parents to be involved with their child's education. Thank you all so much for your help with this!
