St Elizabeth's News
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 4 | 12 AUGUST 2022
Rebecca Clarke | Principal
Dear parent and caregivers,
This week started with the Feast of Mary MacKillop. Mary MacKillop Feast Day is held every August 8th, in honour of the revered Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop. She was the first Saint of Australia, and her influence in the country has spread far and wide. She is recognised for her commitment to the poor, helping those who needed it the most in any way she could.
Mater Dei College visited our school today showcasing the various opportunities that are on offer at the College. Mater Dei College is a co-educational Catholic College offering a supportive and enriching educational environment for students in Years 7-12, based on the pillars of Faith, Community, Service and Learning. As I have mentioned before, I would recommend a tour of the College if you were considering sending your child to Mater Dei for their secondary education. The Mater Dei Community Fair will be on Saturday September 17 and this year St Elizabeth will have stall to promote our school and our connection with Mater Dei. Please put this date in your diary!
The annual Book Fair took place this week and who doesn’t love reading a good book. The library was transformed into a magical display of books based on the theme ‘Paws for Books’ where Mrs Burgess hoped you would ‘Come, Stay, Read a Great Tale!’. The aim of the Book Fair was to provide our students access to more books. More books means more choice, which means our students get to read the books they want to read. The right book can ignite a passion for reading, expands the mind and nourishes the imagination. Thank you to Mrs Burgess and Mrs Dimond for organising such a fabulous event and to our school community for the great support!
I would like to wish all of our Year 6 students, Mr Rebeiro and Mrs Fernandez all the best as they venture off to camp on Wednesday. I am sure, despite the weather, they will have a fabulous time and create some wonderful memories!
Next Monday, we will be launching the names of the factions to our students and the school community. The students will also discover the faction that they have been allocated to! I am very excited!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
