General Update
SCC CAPS Technology Solutions associates have been engaging with business professionals, expanding their network and improving their professional skills all while working very hard on their business partner projects. In October, they concluded the Professional Skills Bootcamp with mock interviews and parent/associate conferences.
Thank you to those that attended the associate-led conferences and participated in mock interviews. We hope you enjoyed the experience and learned more about what the associates are learning in the SCC CAPS program.

Business Partner Projects
Baue Funeral Home The SCC CAPS associate team is working with Baue Funeral Home to research best personalize services book design examples for online sharing and printing. The associates are also creating mock ups and collecting photos for this project. | Replications Unlimited The SCC CAPS associate team is working with Replications Unlimited to research best website design examples for a manufacturing company that offers various products and services. Using WordPress, associates are creating mock ups, designing a fully functional website that is mobile friendly, and incorporating photo and video galleries. | Emmaus Hornes The SCC CAPS associate team is working with Emmaus Homes to research effective methods to clean and organize MailChimp email database into appropriate list. Associates are developing a protocol to gain email subscribers and developing email templates that can be easily updated for maintaining regular email contacts with subscribers. |

Foristell Chamber of Commerce The SCC CAPS associate team will work with Foristell Chambers of Commerce to research best website examples for Chambers of Commerce that meets client's objectives. During the course of the project, associates are creating mock ups, ensure the site is mobile friendly with social media plug-ins, and the ability to to include calendar of events and invitations. | Lewis and Clark Career Center The SCC CAPS associate team is working with Lewis & Clark Career Center to create a short recruitment video for Health/Health Related Occupations program. The associates are filming student testimonials, projects, job shadowing experience and rotation experience. While working on this project, the associates are reviewing and gathering footage, and editing video to create a highly impactful recruitment video. | The Rack House Kitchen The SCC CAPS associate team is working with The Rack House Kitchen to research best website design examples of restaurants that offers similar products and services. Associates are creating mock ups, building a new website, and ensuring the website is mobile friendly with social media plug-ins. |

Community Council The SCC CAPS associate team is working with Community Council to create short videos for various companies attending their Community Council Services Summit in October. Associates working on this project are getting hands-on experience with a camera, filming experience, and working with video editing software. Another associate team is also going to the Services Summit to film the event and create a promo video. | St. Charles County CAPS The SCC CAPS associate team is working with St. Charles County CAPS to create a short recruitment video featuring all the three strands. For the project, associates are filming student testimonials, site visits, guest speaker highlights, interships and rotation experiences, and showcasing business partner & passion projects. Currently, the associates are capturing additional footage of each strand and editing to create a new promotional video. | Alleluia Baskets The SCC CAPS associate team is working with Alleluia Baskets to create short videos featuring the organizational story to include how people can get involved through volunteering and giving. The associates are using previously shot video footage as well as shooting new footage to create stories. |

Tompkins The SCC CAPS associate team is working with Tompkins by Rack House to research best website design examples of restaurant that offers similar products and services. Over the course of the project, associates are creating mock ups, building a new website, and ensuring the website is mobile friendly with social media plug-ins. | Francis Howell School District The SCC CAPS associate team is working with the Francis Howell School District to create a comprehensive user-friendly college and career planning resources website for students and parents that can be easily managed by stakeholders. While working on this project, associates are using WordPress to build a new website. | We Love St. Charles The SCC CAPS associate team is working with We Love St. Charles to create short videos featuring a short recap of the Sweetheart Soiree. Associates working on this project are shooting additional footage to create a video to spread awareness for next year's event. Other skills such as video editing and filming are being utilized. |

Gerry Boschert | It's Art Gerry Boschert, a graphic design artist, talked to the class about how he started his company "It's Art!" and how to stand out in the creative media field. Gerry showed the class his very extensive portfolio that included company logos, coloring books, and unique resumes. | Kim Eichelberger | Eichelberger Photography Kim Eichelberger is the owner of Eichelberger Photography. She came and spoke with our CAPS class about photography, the importance of copyright, and how to run your own business. Kim is known for doing professional headshots, but she also specializes in family portraits, commercial photography, senior pictures, and wedding photos. She gave the class a lot of good business tips that she uses to sell her pictures to customers and how to get people to look natural in photos. | Robi Johnston | Open Market Robi Johnston from Open Market, a mobile messaging solutions company, came all the way from Seattle, Washington to discuss her role at Open Market as well as the importance of diversity in the workplace. With greater diversity comes higher engagement, creativity, innovation, and success. She taught us that everybody has a different perspective, and when you work with people who have a different mindset than you then there are so many possibilities. |

Juan Lebron | Microsoft XBOX Division Juan Lebron from the Microsoft XBOX Division in Seattle, Washington spoke with the class about managing employees and the future of XBOX. A few of the PM associates were so intrigued by Juan's presentation that they stayed over 30 minutes after class speaking with him! | Mark Katerberg | Slalom Consulting Mark Katerberg talked to the class about game design and software development. He gave us great advice regarding occupations in the gaming market and distinguishing what you like to do and the skills it takes to pursue it. Mr. Katerberg also gave the associates advice on professional skills and how important they are regardless of where they work. | Shawn Donoho | Slalom Consulting Shawn Donoho talked to the class about his experience with TV, film, and radio advertisement. He shared some examples of his corporate commercials along with some passion project examples to show how diverse his career is. He also shared the importance of flexibility in the workforce regarding learning new skills on the job. |

They shared their company's values and the process of their consulting work. To end their presentation, they shared real life applications of their consulting work and presented job opportunities they offer to college graduates. | Damaris Nadal, Emma Mak, & Kobby Afful | GraybaR Damaris Nadal, Emma Mak, and Kobby Afful with GraybaR talked to the class about their company and data analysis. They explained what data analysis was and the diversity of their job descriptions. Along with explaining what they do at GraybaR, they showed the class examples of programs they use and certain situations they may be asked to pull data for their work. | Santiago Flores Kanter + Colleen Panosian | Cisco Network Engineers Santiago Flores Kanter and Colleen Panosian talked to the class about their jobs at Cisco. Santiago Flores Kanter highlighted Cisco's programs and internships for college graduates as did Colleen Panosian. Along with sharing about their company, they described what their day-to-day looks like working with each other to sell Cisco products. |

In technology solutions, students learn to utilize technology in order to design products and solve business problems. In addition to working with technology, students have the opportunity to learn important soft skills and build their professional networks before venturing into the workforce.
