Lyman Elementary

December 2022

Note From Mr. McPhee

Dear Lyman Families,

I hope that your Thanksgiving celebration and break was relaxing and filled with family time. We are now back to school working hard before the next holiday break. Our teachers work hard at helping every child achieve grade level standards in all subject areas. We have high expectations for student learning and growth and our students rise to the occasion to meet those expectations every day.

In preparation for the next holiday break, the Lyman Parent Group will host the annual Holiday Craft Day on Friday, December 2. This event is in our gym after school from 3:30 to 5:00. A $7 fee will allow the students to make holiday crafts and ornaments for the home and family. I really appreciate our parent group and their support for student learning and extended activities. Their recent Craft Bazaar on November 26 was just another great example of the time and effort that they put forth to raise funding for many student-centered learning opportunities. Thank you Lyman Parent Group for everything that you do.

I hope you can all join us on December 14 for our annual Winterfest program at Cascade Middle School. Doors will open at 5:30 pm to drop your students off at the designated classrooms. Please have your students to CMS by 5:50. The concert will start at 6:00. Our staff is working hard to choose the perfect songs for each grade level and prepare their students for a great show. I cannot wait to hear their collective voices sing in the holiday season.

We are very proud of the growth our students are showing this year. As I visit classrooms every day, I see the strong Lyman tradition of working hard to help every student achieve their individual potential and excellence. I am honored to be the principal of Lyman Elementary School and to have the opportunity to work with such an outstanding staff and great kids every day.

As I close out this final newsletter for 2022, I want to wish everyone in the Lyman community and family a fulfilling and restful holiday season and an exciting and hopeful beginning to the New Year.

Sincerely,

Scott A. McPhee
