CR West Week 3

To Know God and To Make Him Known

Science is Fun

Week three was a great success!! I think the kids really enjoyed going outside for science! Thanks to a very brave Mrs. VanHorn, her class as well as Mrs. Clinefelter's class got to study a snake up close! Last week we had goldfish and this week snakes! You never can tell what surprises await you on community day. :-) Remember our goals for science are to learn the scientific method and practice asking good questions. You can do this at home with your children as well. Like our other core components we always relate science back to God and His word too!

For Science Week Five we are need of large Mason jars. We will use them and return them. If you have any for us to borrow please bring them on Monday and give them to Jenna Clinefelter.

A Few Good Men...

THANK YOU so much to those of you whose husbands have volunteered for our male presence. We are still in need of a "few good men" to help out during our next six week segment. :-) Please click the link if a man you know can help us out!

Reading Revival

In her book The Core Leigh Bortins explains that children need to spend time with books in three ways...

1. Mom or Dad read aloud from books ABOVE the child's reading level to increase speaking vocabulary

2. Children read easy books BELOW their reading level in order to master common words

3. Children Read books at a COMFORTABLE level to gently increase their reading ability

Take time to read with and to your children. The benefits are great!
