Child Care Chalkboard

June 1-30

Blast into summer event

Please join us in the Big Field for our kick off to summer event. We will have snow cones, the Puppy Palace, potato sack races, bean bag toss and more. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child's teacher, as well as get to know some of the other parents. Due to recent guidelines we will need to split this into two events. The younger groups (Little Daycare, Big Daycare, Beehive) will have their event at 10:00-11:30. The older groups (Youth Center) will have their event at 4:00-5:30. In the case of inclement weather, we will move to the gym.

Our Office has moved!

The office has now moved to the Youth Center building. This is the large blue building across the parking lot from where the office was previously located. The office is immediately to the left when you enter through the main doors.

ICE CREAM WAGON

Once a week the Youth Center kids will visit the other classrooms for the opportunity to purchase Popsicles and Ice Cream Treats after snack. The treats will cost $.50-$1.50. We will provide Otter Pops for anyone who does not have money. If you would like to bring $5 or $10, we would be happy to keep this in an envelope for your child to use each week. We will let you know when it runs low. Look for the "ICW" (Ice Cream Wagon) in our field trip section to find out what day it will take place each week.

Items Needed Daily for Summer

1. Sunscreen 30+SPF (Please arrive with first application on!)

Sunscreen will be applied by the teachers every four hours starting at 10:00. To ensure your child is protected, please make sure to apply sunscreen before or upon arrival each morning. If you have not done so, the teachers will ask you to do so before you leave.

2. Swimsuit and towel (Please label)

Please make sure your child has a swimsuit available each day. Even if a water event is not scheduled on the newsletter, the teachers may choose to do a water activity. If you take the swimsuit home to wash, don't forget to bring it back the next day.

3. Water Bottle (Please label)

Please send a water bottle that will not leak when we are on field trips. We will wash the water bottles every day in the dishwasher. This allows for them to stay here the entire week so they do not get forgotten at home.

Our staff

We always have some new staff in the summer so please remember to bring your ID when you pick up.

Field Trips

Summer is the time for field trips. Please read any descriptions to see if there are special items your child needs. We will also list a price for some of the field trips. Immunization Update

When your child receives new immunizations, please bring those records in to the office. We must keep immunizations up to date on all children. Our records are checked yearly to make sure all children are current. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Cold & Flu Season--Sick Policy Change

In accordance with what the schools in the area adhere to, we have decided to make some changes to our sick policy. Here is the new policy with the change highlighted:

"Health:

Trinity Lutheran Child Care Center is not licensed to accept sick children. Children who arrive at the center in ill health will be asked to return home. We will do a daily health check upon arrival of each child. This is a casual observation of your child and we look for overall wellness, not for signs to exclude them. If the child is too ill to participate in our daily activities, including outdoor time, then the child is too ill to be at the center. Children who have been sick will not be admitted into the center unless they are completely over their illness and no longer contagious. For the protection of all the children and our staff, your child must be kept at home if signs of illness are showing such as:

a. Temperature of 100 degrees or other symptoms of illness including but not limited to coughing, shortness of breath, runny nose, congestion, sore throat, loss of appetite, lethargic, rash, etc.

(must be fever free without medication for 72 hours before returning)

b. Sore or discharging eyes, ears, or throat"

c. Intestinal disturbance, diarrhea or vomiting

(must be free of symptoms for 24 hours before returning)

d. Any signs of head lice/nits

(must be treated with minimum OTC kit before returning - no home remedies)
