What We Are Learning in Science
What We Are Learning in Social Studies
Students consider the actions and impacts of exploration in the 15th and 16th centuries.
Covestro Visit
Ben Renwick from Covestro visited Osborne this past Monday. He gave a presentation on STEM careers, taught students about polymers, and led an activity in which students made polymer worms.
Absences
If students are absent, and feeling up to it, they should follow the Learning Plan for that day’s lesson posted in the Schoology Science and /or Social Studies Course. There may be parts of the lesson that students are unable to do from home, but they will still get the gist of that lesson. I include special instructions for students learning from home when necessary. Students can email me with questions from home. Students can also catch up on these assignments during flex or at home over the next couple of days after their return.
Assignments that are not completed and submitted during the allotted class time by the due date become homework. Assignments will be accepted after the due date for credit, however students must notify me so I can update the grade book. The code DNS (Did Not Submit) is entered in Powerschool when an assignment has not been submitted. This is just a placeholder until the student turns in the assignment.
Students may take quizzes multiple times and I will record the highest score in the grade book. If students retake a quiz after it is entered into the grade book, they will need to notify me so I can update the Powerschool grade book. If parents want to view quizzes/assessments/ assignments in detail on Schoology, click Grades and then click on the assignment, quiz or assessment. Your child should be able to show you this on their Ipad. Schoology does not sync with Powerschool, so there may be assignments that do not have a grade in Schoology. Powerschool is the official gradebook and reflects what will be on the report cards.
💡 Reminders
Ipads
Please remind your child to bring their Ipad to school every day fully charged. They cannot participate fully in the learning without it. They can bring a charger to school with them each day if necessary.
.
Powerschool and Grades
We do a Powerschool check at least once a week in class so students are aware of their grade and of any overdue assignments each week. Your child will be able to quickly open Powerschool on their Ipad and show you their grades in all subjects.
