News from the Sinclair Library
Back-to-School Edition (September 2015)
Welcome Back
There are some big changes in the Sinclair Library this year.
- Staffing: Please help me welcome our new library assistant--Kenny Carrington. Kenny is a familiar face around campus as he was a guest teacher and coach last year. He will help with circulation, administrative duties, and special projects daily from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.
- Scheduling: This year, grades JK-2 will visit the library on a weekly basis for lessons and check out. The upper grades (3-5) will visit weekly for check-out and as needed on a flexible schedule to better integrate information literacy and research skills with classroom curriculum.
- Collection: We are continually updating our print and e-book collection. Since August 2014, we weeded more than 1,300 books from the collection and added 1,500 new titles that support the LS curriculum, as well as student interest.
Library Services
In addition to promoting reading and teaching information literacy and research skills, we are available to support SSSAS LS faculty by:
- collaborating and planning lessons
- recommending books and activities for read-alouds, book groups/lit circles, content connections, and guided-reading
- creating and compiling lesson resources, including books, websites, and other materials
- sharing and incorporating tech tools for lessons, teaching, and creating student products
- helping organize your classroom library
Please don't hesitate to contact us or swing by the Sinclair Library if you need assistance (or chocolate).
