RETURNING TO SCHOOL DETAILS
Dear Kennedy Families,
If you are receiving this message it means that you have selected for your student(s) to return to Kennedy in-person. We are so excited to see your student(s) soon and have been really busy planning all of the details.
Below is a summary of the key details you need to know right now. More will be coming next week. Every school is doing things differently, so these are Kennedy-specific details.
Students Already On Campus
Students who have been on-campus with us for REACH, hubs, and pods, will remain on their normal schedule next week (March 22-26). They will come to campus and be in their assigned rooms like normal. At some point during the week, Kennedy administrators will meet with the students to go over the new routines, rooms, and procedures that will occur after spring break starting on Thursday, April 8. All students currently on campus will transition to be with one of their Kennedy teachers and some of their grade-level peers. If they are currently with a Kennedy teacher in a pod, it may be a different teacher and group of students in April.
On Monday, April 5, and Tuesday, April 6, those students in REACH and the following pods (Knudson, Kelley, and Macko) will need to complete school from home these days as many of our teachers will be getting ready for everyone to return on Thursday, April 8. Those in Maestro Alfredo’s pod will be on campus Monday, April 5, and Tuesday April 6.
Those in hubs, which are with guest teachers, will come to campus like normal Monday, April 5, through Wednesday, April 7. Starting April 8, those in hubs will be in new rooms with Kennedy teachers, but will still come to campus on Wednesdays for the remainder of the year to be with their guest teacher and complete work.
Students Currently Doing At-Home Distance Learning Who Are Returning
Students currently doing distance learning from home who will be returning to campus will continue with their regular distance learning schedules next week and the first half of the week of April 5. Their first full day on campus will be on Thursday, April 8. However, students will come to campus on Wednesday, March 24, at their designated time to go through a safety orientation, learn their main classroom assignment and teacher, and participate in some other activities. 8th graders will be on campus that day from 9:00-10:00 am. 7th graders will be on campus that day from 10:15-11:15 am, and 6th graders will be on campus from 11:30 am-12:30 pm. On this day students will enter from the gym parking lot gate on Washington Avenue. Those who come by bike will be given a designated place to put their bike when they check-in. Pick up for all grade levels on this day will be on Goodwin and in-front of the school.
Family Safety Orientation
On Thursday, March 25, at 7:00 pm, we will be offering a safety orientation for families, which is highly encouraged so that families know the procedures and what will be taking place on campus. This is a great opportunity to ask questions as well. The Zoom link will be in the Cougar Connect this weekend.
Again, there will be plenty of details to share next week, but please feel free to reach out to the office or administrators with urgent questions. We look forward to seeing those currently doing distance learning from home who are returning to campus on Wednesday, March 24, for the safety orientation, and then again on Thursday, April 8. Starting April 8, all students will be on campus from 8:00 am - 2:40 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Sincerely,
Sabrina Adler
Atentamente,
Sabrina Adler
