Wrapped: Alex's Year In Review
2017/2018 Career Center Team Assistant
What A Year It's Been!
When I first accepted the position as Career Center Team Assistant, I knew two things: The first was that I loved the Career Center and how much they helped me through my college career and two, that I was ready for a new challenge and to expand my skill set. This job has exceeded my expectations in many ways. Not only have I become much more comfortable producing graphic content, but I have also gotten better at project management, time management, and my networking skills. I have loved getting to work on such a wide range of projects and work individually with so many of the Career Counselors and Career Center staff. Below is a showcase of some of the work I have completed over the course of the school year.
Career Center Portfolio
Weekly Update Graphics
Every week, I updated the graphics for the jobs updates, explore labs, and career assessments. It was always so fun and rewarding to get the Career Center Weekly Update every week as a student and see my work in action.
Career Fair Graphics
I have had the pleasure of creating several graphics in order to promote different colleges career fairs throughout the semester.
Event Promo Graphics
I have also had the pleasure of creating different graphics and flyers in order to promote career center workshops and panels throughout the year.
Portfolium Challenge
Portfolium has become a passion project for me over the course of the year. With the help of Maggie and Erin, we launched the 8 week long Portfolium Challenge, which served as a way to get student using the new Career Center tool as well as showcase different career readiness skills.
Studnet Employment Tshirt Design
Aaron approached me earlier in the semester and asked me to create a few design ideas for the student employment t-shirts that will be distributed next year. This was a very fun and exciting project and, if anyone was wondering, we chose the design in the middle!
Miscellaneous Worksheets and Handouts
I also created different handouts and worksheets throughout the year with the purpose of condensing information for our students while also making these eye catching to the viewer.
What's Next for Alex?
I'm Headed to the Big Apple!
As an advertising major, it has always been a dream to work in a big global ad agency in the city that is in the center of all the action: New York City! This summer that dream will become a reality as I pack my bags and head north for an incredible internship opportunity with FCB Health! If all goes well this summer and I can see myself moving to NYC full time, I will be permanently relocating to the city that never sleeps. Wish me luck and follow my journey post-grad by following me on social media:)
