As educators we get to stand for the future; may we continue to STAND and SERVE our JROB DOLPHINS!
Dr. Martin Luther King.....words to live by "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."...
Celebrating the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King on Monday, January 21 - No School
Please note our JROB Dolphin Cheerleader/Pep Squad will be participating in the Long Beach MLK parade on Saturday, January 19. Hope you to see you on the parade route cheering them on!
Whistle While you Work .....#thebuzzoflearning in #JROBNATION
As you know it's a New Year and its time to....
Just whistle while you work
And cheerfully together we can tidy up the placeSo hum a merry tune
It won't take long when there's a song to help you set the pace
And as you sweep the room
Imagine that the broom
Is someone that you love and soon you'll find you're dancing to the tune
When hearts are high the time will fly so whistle while you work
Thanks for all you do in the daily grind to support our Dolphins to success...you are appreciated and valued. Soooooo turn up the volume and WHISTLE to the tune of the best learning community in town #JROBNation.
Respectfully - Damita

.72 Difference in Student Achievement Increases....It's about Relationships, Relationships and RELATIONSHIPS
J. Hattie's research supports teacher and student relationships with a positive increase in achievement levels by .72. In order to really develop relationships to support all JROB Dolphins, we must explicitly and effectively engage students in social-emotional learning. Our message to students, along with our actions and interactions can make a BIG impact! We all grow and thrive in a positive environment!
REWIND......."GRIT" helps to support students with a GROWTH MINDSET
During the GFS Assemblies, we provided students with a 3-step strategy in overcoming academic challenges. When you see a student struggling behaviorally, please redirect their attention to the 3 steps:
- Notice - Remind the student that they could be feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, anxious. (This noticing is a private reflection by the student and should not have to be verbalized).
- Allow - Remind student this a natural reaction to these feelings.
- Refocus - Provide some suggestions to refocus the student's attention to the assigned task.
GRIT VIDEO to explore with your students:
