A Message from Our Principal, Ms. Harper

Spartan Families,

I hope you are all doing well after the unprecedented week of cold weather in our area. I know many of you were without power and water and experienced damage to your homes, just like many of our staff members. We want you to know that the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families is our first priority. If you are experiencing difficulty due to the recent weather incident, or if your student is not able to participate in online learning (for KVA students), please complete this survey to let us know. We are here for you and will do our best to assist our students in getting through this.

We look forward to welcoming our students back to face to face and online learning on Monday, February 22nd!

Sincerely,

Kristin Harper

Attention Parents of Students who are Changing Learning Mode for the 5th Grading Period:

If your secondary student requested to a change from Face-to-Face learning to KVA or KVA to Face-to-Face learning, for marking period 5, which will begin on Monday, February 22nd, please go the Home Access Center to see if your student’s schedule has been changed to their new learning environment with their updated schedule.

You can do so by logging into Home Access Center (HAC) and once logged in, you will be on the HOME – Week View tab. Go to the week of Monday February 22, 2021 - Friday February 26, 2021 to view your student’s schedule.(see below)

If the schedule changes have not been completed, please do the following based on your learning environment:

Face-to-Face learning to KVA: Plan on learning remotely on Monday, Feb.22nd, but anticipate that your digital resources, including Canvas, will not be accessible until the schedule changes have been completed. Canvas is an overnight process to appear mirrored with the new schedule.

KVA to Face-to-Face learning: If your student was approved to change to Face-to-Face learning, but you do not see your new schedule in the HAC, please plan on your student attending school on Monday, Feb. 22nd, at their zoned campus. They should report to the counselor’s office for an updated schedule.

Any additional questions, please contact your counselor’s office on Monday, Feb. 22nd. For information on accessing the Home Access Center: Home Access Center (HAC) User Guide (English) or Home Access Center (HAC) User Guide (Spanish)

If your student has indicated that they do not have their own calculator, then we have checked one out to them. You may come to the school for pickup. Drive by pickup will be in the front drive of the school on Thursday, February 18 from 4:30-5:30. An additional pickup time inside the front office will be offered on Friday, February 19 from 11:00 – 3:00. Both KVA & FTF students can request library books by putting library books on “HOLD” in Destiny Discover which can be found in My Katy Cloud. To watch a video on placing library books on HOLD, please click here.

FTF students that place library books on HOLD, will get their requested library books delivered to them during the school day by one of our library student aides.

If KVA parents cannot make this pick up slot for the requested library books, they may email Mrs. Lopez at martaalopez@katyisd.org or call at 281-234-2129 to set up a different day and time.

Unfortunately due to COVID, the library is closed for printing. However if your student needs to print out an assignment because they do not have access to a printer at home, they may email their request to sljhlibrary@katyisd.org and we will deliver the printing job to your student during the school day. (Make sure your student’s first and last name are included in the document.)
