We will continue discussing main idea. We will also be focusing on the sounds -au as in taught and -aw as in saw . Our new writing focus this trimester will be opinion writing.
We will learn tens and ones (place value). We will learn greater than, less than, and equal to (< , >, and =). We will learn 10 more, 10 less, one more, and one less than a given number. We will learn about three dimensional shapes like the cone, cylinder, cube, sphere, and rectangular prism. We will work on addition and subtraction fluency and do quick fluency checks with students. We will do number talks.

Read Across America
Read Across America Day is Friday March 2nd and we will be celebrating LITERACY all week long!!!
We are so excited to have so many FUN and EXCITING events planned for our students here at Paine Elementary for Read Across America. We will have lots of fun activities throughout the week all featuring and promoting literacy. We will have dress up days, classroom activities, a Dr. Seuss Digital Breakout Birthday Bash, special guest readers, a delicious Green Eggs and Ham breakfast with SURPRISE servers and greeters on Friday March 2nd.
Our Scholastic Book Fair will be held during this fun filled week here in the Library. Our two Family Nights will be Tuesday February 27th and Thursday March 1st. We will also feature our Art Show, Marketplace and Paine Literacy Night on those dates. More information and details about all these fun events will be coming home with your child and emailed to our parents soon.
