Back to School Night was another great opportunity to meet Comet families! Our teachers were so excited to spend this time sharing all their classroom spaces and more information about the curriculum for this school year. Afternoon Dismissal Plan

If your afternoon dismissal plans change for your child, please complete the transportation form and send in with your child as we are starting to get a higher volume of phone calls to report this change.

WATCH D.O.G.S.- We're back!!!!! All Dads interested in joining our Watch D.O.G. program, please join us for Pizza Night on September 28th @ 6pm in the cafeteria. Be on the lookout for more information coming soon!

Attendance Reminders

When your child is absent, we must receive communication within three days of the absence for it to be recorded as "excused." Absences that are not substantiated by a note or phone call to the office within three days of the absence will remain "unexcused."

• At 5 unexcused absences, you will be contacted to develop an attendance plan to resolve attendance concerns
• At 7 unexcused absences, an attendance conference will be held to discuss continued attendance concerns
• If attendance does not improve, a referral may be made to School Social Work Services for additional support

Tardy Students:

Parents, please remember that if your child is late (after 8:00 a.m.) you will need to come into the office to sign them in on the designated form. Your child will receive a tardy pass which they will give to their teacher upon arrival to class.

Afternoon Parent Pick-up: NEW INFORMATION!

Thank you for your patience during the first 2 weeks as we have been working through our preliminary procedures to ensure the safe dismissal of each student. If you will be picking your child up daily, your child should be bringing home a card with a bar code that will be scanned each day at the pick up line. We are hoping this will move our line even quicker in the afternoons. Again, thank you so much for your cooperation!

HCPS Calendar Change- At its meeting Tuesday night, the Hanover County School Board approved a revision to the previously approved school calendar. Similar to last school year, all four days of the last week of school (Monday, June 12 through Thursday, June 15) will now be early release days for all students.

2. The PTA is also collecting gently used shoes of all types (adults, kids, cleats, ballet shoes, etc). Bins are located at KCES entrance and Milestone clubhouse. Collection is taking place through 11/5.

3. Chrysanthemum sale. We are selling Mums on Friday, Sept 23 from parent-pick up until 6. Small Mums for $7.50 and Large for $9.
