Principally Speaking

What a fantastic beginning of school we have had at Nashua Elementary! I can't remember a more successful start to a school year. I know we are going to have an awesome 2018-19 year!!

Our STARS have been working very hard the last couple of weeks learning routines, developing community, and focusing on learning new curriculum. The staff at Nashua have committed to providing each student with engaging educational experiences, exposing them to various types of literature, developing number sense and mathematical problem solving skills, along with challenging Science activities!

It is an honor to serve as the principal of Nashua Elementary! Thank you for trusting us with your children each day! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or myself directly.

As always, it's a great day to be a STAR!

Lunch Visitors

We love when parents and grandparents visit our STARS during lunch! We ask that you always check in at the office, provide a photo ID, and pick up a Visitor's Badge. We also ask that you wait in the cafe for your child. Please do not go to the classroom to meet your child. We value instruction highly at Nashua and do not want to cause any disruptions to the learning process.

Build A Strong Partnership with Your Child's Teacher Right Away

Have you ever watched children riding on a see-saw? They have to work together. If one child gets off, the other can't ride. That's a good way to think about your relationship with your child's teacher. If you work together, you can build a strong partnership. This partnership starts when you fill out the forms your child brings home. The teacher needs to know how her or she can contact you. If your contact information changes, let the office know.

You should also find time to talk with the teacher about your child. Plan to attend parent-teacher conferences. If you can't come to this event, ask the teacher if you can meet another time.

It is also important that you share information about your child with the teacher. Open communication is one key to your child's success.

Mrs. Cobb's Corner

Being in school every day means your child won't miss out on learning. Try to schedule appointments and family trips outside of school hours. If your child asks to stay home "just because", remind him or her what will be missed that day at school. Explain that students can be absent only if they are sick or if there's a family emergency.

The state of Missouri requires that 90% of our students attend school 90% of the time. In 2017, our attendance at Nashua was 99%, that's the highest in the district! Our goal this year is to maintain that number. Thank you for helping to support us in this area!

We are a SeeSaw School

Nashua has decided to become a SeeSaw School for the 2018-19 school year. SeeSaw is an interactive site that students and teachers can work collaboratively on to increase engagement and learning. In addition, parents have the opportunity to interact with their child's learning as well. Classroom and school communication will be done through this app as well.

September PTA News

    Hello Nashua Families!

It was so great to see/meet so many of you at Back to School Night! If you didn't get a chance to stop by the PTA table to purchase your membership, yearbook, or pay your room party fee(s), it is not too late. Feel free to print the order form off our website and send it in along with payment in an envelope to our box in the front office.

We hope you'll join us at our first meeting coming up on September 18th! Our PTA is a great way to get involved in making the school and community the great place it is. Recently, the PTA has funded the rock climbing wall, a new PA system, and an archery set. We also support our students and teachers annually by providing classroom funds for each teacher, funding field trips and school parties, developing fall and spring family activities - and much, much more. By becoming a member and attending our meetings, you can help be a part of all of this!

Another great way to get involved is to volunteer. We have several open positions still, and we'd love to add to our great team of parents and teachers.

As always, please reach out anytime! Looking forward to a great school year.

    PTA President

    PTA Fundraiser:

Nashua Elementary PTA is partnering with Great American again this year for our PTA fundraiser. All proceeds go toward funding Field Trips, classroom supplies for every teacher, recognizing staff, etc., as well as large school purchases - last school year we bought a Rock Wall installation in the gym, and a new PA system for events and assemblies, just to name a few!

Next month, our fundraiser kickoff will be September 10th with a video link teachers will show in class and fundraising packets will be sent home the same day. Our fundraiser will run thru September 24th and we have a planned delivery date of October 24th.

If you would rather 'buy-out' or donate directly to PTA, please feel free to do so - any amount is greatly appreciated! If you have any questions, contact Jennifer Walters at or 816-665-1870.
