An "Open House" in schools is an event where the school invites parents, guardians, and sometimes the broader community to visit the school campus, meet with teachers and staff, and learn more about the school's programs, curriculum, and educational environment.
C.I.A. was excited to hold it's open house for the 2023/2024 academic year. The entire campuses were filled with so much joy and energy as both old and new parents met facilitators and mates of their wards.
The start of a new school year is always filled with possibilities and opportunities for growth. It's a chance to challenge ourselves, explore new subjects, and make new friends.
The entire school community could not keep calm as we welcomed back our students from the long break!!! We look forward to an exciting 2023/2024 academic year.

Unit Preview with Parents (UPP) serves as a means for educators to engage with parents and provide an overview of upcoming units of study, learning objectives, and the curriculum that their children will be exposed to in the coming weeks or months.
It is a collaborative event that aims to enhance parental involvement and understanding of their child's education. It provides parents with valuable information about upcoming units, curriculum, assessment, and ways to support their child's learning within the context of the IB program's philosophy and objectives.
Our parents were more than excited as they engaged in different learning activities during UPP. We hope to do this again in our next unit!
An investiture ceremony in a school typically refers to a formal event where students are bestowed with certain responsibilities, leadership roles, or awards. This ceremony is often held to recognize and celebrate the achievements, potential, and leadership qualities of students and prefects.
The 2023/2024 investiture event was a glorious one as the school elected its new prefects. We wish all prefects a successful and productive term of office.
Democracy in action! It was an amazing sight as students casted their votes on the Election Day, and chose the candidates they believe will best represent their interests and aspirations.
The newly elected student council members were officially invested into their roles. This ceremony symbolized the trust and responsibility placed in them by their peers and the school administration.
A hearty congratulations to all newly elected prefects!! We wish you a successful and fruitful era.
Decoding the Author in Me is a writing challenge to celebrate International Literacy Day. It is thrown to students of MYP to help them develop their creative writing skills. The goal for this writing challenge is to train the next generation of the Ama Ata Aidoo, Efua Sutherland, Chinua Achebe and the like. This will encourage them to embrace the vision of writing as a passion and to sharpen their skills and abilities.
MYP is super-excited to celebrate International Literacy Day on the 8th of September, 2023 and to climax the event by acknowledging outstanding students emerge as winners of the writing challenge.
Nurturing Healthy Computer Usage at Cornerstone International Academy
In the age of technology, computers have become an integral part of our lives, permeating every aspect of our existence. At Cornerstone International Academy, we recognize the importance of harnessing this digital power while also ensuring that it is used in a healthy and responsible manner. In this article, we will share some tips for healthy computer use in the school community.
Here are some tips for healthy computer use in the school community:
1. Set limits on screen time. The American Academy of Pediatrics (2016) recommends that children and adolescents under the age of 18 should have no more than two hours of screen time per day. This includes time spent on computers, tablets, smartphones, and televisions.
Take breaks. Get up and move around every 20-30 minutes to avoid eye strain and muscle fatigue (according to Hale & Guan 2015).
2. Sit up straight. Good posture helps to prevent back pain and other health problems.
Take care of your eyes. Make sure to adjust the brightness and contrast on your computer screen so that it is comfortable to look at. You may also want to use a pair of computer glasses to protect your eyes.
3. Be aware of the risks of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is when someone uses electronic communication to bully or harass another person (Twenge & Campbell 2018). If you are being cyberbullied, tell a trusted adult immediately or report it to your facilitator or to the school, especially to the IT facilitator.
Use computers for educational purposes. Computers can be a great tool for learning. Use them to research topics, complete assignments, and collaborate with others.
4. Be mindful of your privacy. When you are using a computer, be aware of the information that you are sharing. Only share information that you are comfortable with others knowing.
Use computers to explore your interests. There are many online resources that can help you learn about your interests.
