Updates from the Craig PTA
We apologize for canceling the meeting on 10/1/21. We had a family emergency with a board member. Thank you for your understanding.
- Thank you to everyone for helping make our fundraiser a HUGE success! We had a great time this week celebrating the top sellers that were at the ice cream party. Today Ms. Godfrey's and Ms. Hattaway's classes had pizza parties for being the top selling classes.
- Room Reps - Thank you! We just received an updated email listing for PTA so if you haven’t received volunteer emails, you should start seeing them. Kindergarten - 2nd grade room reps should have received their Colt class pack info for their classes. 3rd-5th grade room reps should be receiving updated Colt class pack info soon. There is a form that we will be giving to the room reps to send out to anyone who has not purchased a class pack yet.
- Volunteers - Thank you! We are looking for copy helper volunteers for Oct - Nov. Please check your emails for the sign up sheet! As always, thank you for volunteering as we know time is precious.
- We are gearing up for the Spooktacular Festival taking place on Friday, Oct 22nd from 5-7:30 PM at the school. We will have inflatables, carnival games, trick or treating and food for purchase. We will be asking for sponsors for the event and will have different levels of sponsorship available. Spaces in each sponsorship level will be limited so grab your space quickly! We are also in need of volunteers for set up, during the event & breakdown. Please contact AshleyRSmith@kw.com for more information about sponsorship & volunteering opportunities!

LCF Georgia is excited to be able to provide sports and arts scholarships again this year. These scholarships allow students (1st-12th grades) to enrich their lives by providing funds for costs and equipment in sports and arts they may not have otherwise been able to participate in because of limited financial resources. A big thanks to the Lavender family (Raquel Lavender) for making this yearly scholarship possible.
Please fill out the application here: https://lcfga.info/dreambig2021
Craig Book Character Dress-Up Day & Parade
Dear Craig Families,
To celebrate our love of reading, we will have our first annual Book Character Dress-Up Day & Parade on Friday, October 29. For this fun event, students will choose to dress up like a character, object, theme, or author from their favorite book. For the parade, students will need to hold a copy of the book or a picture of the front cover.
The parade will take place on the playground. Students will begin to make their way around the track at 8:30am. Please join us to cheer on our students. Since the event is outside, you will not need to sign in, just make your way to the playground. In the event of rain, we will have an alternate route.
Students must prepare a book talk to share with their class after the parade. To complete, go to the Craig website and click on the Book Parade Info link found under the Colt News tab. Choose one of the options for your grade level. Students will turn the book talk in to their teacher after the parade.
Each class will vote for Best Costume and Best Book Talk. The winners from each class will come to the Media Center at 2:00 for a special edition of the Craig News Show featuring LIVE Spotlight Book Talks & a Costume Walk.
We look forward to seeing all of the great books! If you have questions, do not hesitate to reach out to your teacher or to me. For issues with book talk templates located on the website, please reach out to Mrs. Bridges (Heather.L.Bridges@gcpsk12.org).
Thank you,
Mrs. Wright, Principal

Parents, we need your help...
It’s more than meals… Complete meal application by Oct. 21 for added benefits
While breakfast and lunch will be provided at no charge for all GCPS in-person and digital students this school year, it still pays to complete the Free and Reduced-price Meal Application. Confirmed eligibility establishes a number of benefits for individual students such as free or discounted college-admissions tests, AP exams, and college applications; scholarship opportunities; and no- and low-cost access to technology and internet plans. In addition, the percentages of qualifying students at a school are used as a measure to secure additional federal funding (Title I) to support students and their education, promote family engagement, and provide additional technology and internet access. Title I funds pay for additional teachers, Parent Centers, additional learning opportunities for students, extra resources, added technology, and more.
