Barclay Bulletin

September 1, 2019

Welcome to a Brand New Year

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! If you are new to Barclay Elementary School, I use this Barclay Bulletin to inform families throughout the year. I typically send out weekly bulletins at the beginning of the year to inform families of changes and updates to the building, as well as communicating any of our procedures. We look forward to seeing students for classroom visits on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. If you are not available to come in that afternoon during the scheduled times, you may arrange to drop off school supplies with our main office and we will get the supplies to the classroom for you. We are not able to set up visits with teachers prior to that afternoon as we have construction occurring throughout the district as well as meetings scheduled for teachers the morning of September 3rd. If you have questions, feel free to e-mail your teacher, or you can call our main office at 637-1840.

Student Drop Off

Our morning routine will be a little different this year. We plan to open our doors to students beginning at 9:00 am. We have a smaller parking lot, so we will have a staff member stationed outside on the sidewalk letting you know when we will begin accepting students into the building. A staff member will be directing vehicles to pull up near our entrance doors to drop off students. Vehicles may then exit the parking lot. If you have to enter the building with a student, please park in a designated visitor spot and walk with your student across the lot. The fire lane should be kept free of stopped vehicles.

Students who are dropped off will wait in our foyer, then transition to the cafeteria beginning at 9:05 am. Students will be released to the classrooms when all of the buses have arrived.

Keep in mind, we have breakfast available to students beginning at 9:05 am.

Student Pick Up

Our redesigned parking lots have prompted us to revisit out end of the day pick up procedures. Students picked up for appointments for an early dismissal from school will be picked up in our main office until 3:00 pm. From 3:00 pm until the end of the day, student release will take place from our cafeteria. Parents will have access to the building through the cafeteria exterior doors beginning at 3:00 pm. Please do not arrive at school prior to 3:00 pm unless you are picking up early for an appointment. Students released before 3:15 pm are considered as an early dismissal for attendance purposes (we have instruction occurring until 3:20 pm).

Parents can enter the cafeteria and check in with Mrs. Lynch to receive their student ticket. Please have photo identification with you. Students will be called to the cafeteria at 3:20 pm for dismissal.

We have extra visitor parking in the Barclay lot this year, but it may not be enough for all of our end of day traffic. You may also park in the lot across Central School Drive and follow the sidewalk to our cafeteria. There will be no visitor parking in our faculty lot to the West of Barclay School as this will impact our bus release.

How to Get in Touch with our Office Staff

There will be three staff members in our office :

Mrs. Reyes

Mrs. Lynch

Mrs. Michels

If you wish to contact the office during the day to report a dismissal for a student, you may call us at 637-1840 or you may send an email to:

Barclay.Elementary@bcs1.org

That e-mail will be sent to all three of our office staff, it's a great way to let us know that you are planning to pick up a student at the end of the day without having to call. Please remember that our dismissal switched to the cafeteria at 3:00 pm. Please inform the school of your plans to pick a student up by 2:30 pm.

Meet and Greet

I've attached the district parking lot maps and my placement letter to this bulletin in the event that you have questions about how to get into the building on Tuesday. We will open all of the listed doors at the scheduled entrance times so that you can proceed directly to the classroom. Feel free to email me at scott.morrison@bcs1.org if you have any questions before our Meet and Greet.
