Our Path to First Choice No. 36 May 11, 2022
Here's Our Path note for this week. Thank you for all you do for our learners!
WASD Leadership Model
WASD First Choice Pyramid
WASD Strategic Plan
"Remember that from the customer perspective, experiences are seamless and there is an expectation of consistency across channels--but different internal owners of parts of that experience can cause inconsistency. You must take a longitudinal view of that to spot inconsistency."--Alan Pennington, expert and author on customer service.
Our Path Note Topic
The F&LS Team is working to build a system to support families and learners who are struggling to connect, integrate, or succeed. The team is working to develop a system of welcoming and orienting new learners and families. They are designing a system that will plan new learner enrollment event(s) across the different buildings. These events will occur during each quarter or trimester of the learner's first year in WASD.
This team will establish a process for onboarding new families from enrollment to their first year at WASD. The team will build a system to look at identifying pain points and review continuum of options to help with the struggles and transitions.
The goal is to have meetings with families looking to leave or that have left WASD and analyze the data collected to identify trends and potential solutions.
The F&LS Team purpose is to create a school environment for families and learners that promotes a positive and caring place to be. Essentially, it is about the experience. Again, creating a First Choice school system.

Piece of the Puzzle
This Week's Piece of the Puzzle is Amy Delaney. Amy has served as our 2nd grade VIP teacher and VIP teacher coordinator during the 2021-22 school year. She has also carved out time during this school year to run guided reading groups at Hooverville and provides homebound instruction for another learner. Most recently, in addition to her VIP responsibilities she assumed maternity leave coverage for a 1st grade teacher at Hooverville. Thank you Amy for your role in making First Choice VIP successful and your willingness to serve in both the virtual world and in the classroom.
Let's congratulate Amy for being this week's Piece of the Puzzle!

Challenge Answer
The Market Value Aid Ratio (MVAR) reflects the general wealth of a school district based on property market value and personal income per student. WASD has a 0.62 MVAR, Shippensburg-0.53, Chambersburg-0.51, Tuscarora-0.50, GASD-0.50 and Fannett-Metal-0.35. The higher the number, the poorer the district, because it does not have the value of property to tax. WASD has the highest number in Franklin County. Therefore, WASD is the poorest district due to not having as much property value it can tax. WASD MVAR has increased from 0.52 to 0.62 from 2010 to 2022. The PA Average is 0.54. The highest in PA is 0.92. The lowest is 0.10.
