When 13 year-old Logan LaPlante grows up, he wants to be happy and healthy. He discusses how hacking his education is helping him achieve this goal. It will be worth your time to check out this Ted Talk. I'm not sure I agree with everything here, but it is interesting to listen.

Featured Teacher: Maus 8th Grade Science
The 8th Grade Science teachers at Maus took a risk, a BIG risk. We met, and they let me totally rework a lesson that they had used in the past. We took their Ecology Unit (2 weeks) and made it into a game. There was a backstory, missions, a leaderboard, etc... And the really cool part, we did it all on their Moodle site. The students were self-paced, but realized they couldn't be lazy. They incorporated technology with items such as Google Presentations, LucidCharts, and Voki. This was a huge undertaking, and I really appreciate Ms. Jennings and Ms. Tuttle for letting me invade their planning.
