Welcome Back! Week 1-

Dear Castle Rock Families,

We are ready to unleash the greatness within each student and build class communities! We hope you had a wonderful summer of relaxation, family bonding, and moments to refresh the mind/body & soul. Our first week will work on building relationships and routines to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.

As we prepare for our first day of school, please remember to check in with your child to see how they are feeling and prepare for a great first day. While you and your child pack their backpack, please remember to label all items to ensure that your child returns home with their belongings each day. Next week is expected to be warm, please label and prepare water bottles and appropriate clothes for outdoor play and cozy for indoor learning.

Free breakfast and lunch will continue this year. If your child would like an additional lunch or breakfast, they will get charged for their second meal. Parents are welcome to add lunch funds to their account through the Nutrition Services website. Students are also welcome to bring their own healthy lunch and healthy snacks from home.

First day of school, August 14, 2023 is a minimum day, we invite you to walk primary students to their classrooms.

Gates Open: 7:50 AM

Instruction begins 1st-3rd grade 8:21 AM

Instruction begins 4th-5th grades 8:17 AM

Teachers will be walking classes into their room at the beginning of 8:17 and 8:21 AM so please share warm hugs and words of encouragement at the door. Please come early to find an appropriate parking zone. Refrain from parking in the staff parking lot and fun club in order for our staff and buses to safely enter our campus.

Minimum Day Dismissal will be as follows:

TK/K Dismissal 11:41am (Note the bell schedule below and min days first week)
1st-5th Dismissal 11:45am

Back to school night will be August 16, 2023 at 5:30 PM in the amphitheater. We hope you can join us and enjoy the book fair, as well! See your child's class and how you can stay connected with school events through our Castle Rock Community Club.

Safe Drop off/Pick Up

Beginning August 15 we will begin guiding students to the designated drop off/pick up gates. To minimalize the movement of our Knights in training, please have older siblings drop off and meet younger siblings at the primary dismissal area.

Drop off line is a drive-thru, please stay in your car and let our students hop out of the car prepared with their belongings from their seat. Please do not keep bags and items for school in the trunk, if possible. This will help our students smoothly drop off for school and enter school each morning.

Friendly reminder: Heritage Park is not a part of WVUSD property and is not Castle Rock campus. Please do not ask your child to meet at the park. For the safest pick up routine, please follow the drop off/pick up framework presented in the map provided.

Office reminders

Please prepare lunches for students to bring with them in the morning. If you forget and need to bring a lunch, please bring it before 10:30 AM and leave it on the cart on the office with a clear label of your students name and teacher. For the office staff to ensure that we attend to students, we will leave a cart with a pen in the office for drop off.

Label everything: clothes, lunch, homework, water bottles...etc. Among 670 students, someone is bound to lose something. We can always return items to their owner when there is a clear label with our student's name.

Meal applications are now being accepted. You do not need an application for free lunch/breakfast but for state-funded opportunities the application can be found HERE. You can also click on the link to find out how a household can qualify.

CRCC Book Fair

This year's Book Fair will run from 8/16/23 to 8/21/23. At Back to School Night you will have an opportunity to walk through and purchase books for your child and purchase through our teacher classroom library wishlists.
