Business As Usual
As we get back to business as usual, we are planning to start clubs in a week. We requested activity buses to come at 4:30 Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday starting earlier than we ever have- September 13th. Currently, we have 11 club offerings and we will be looking to add more based on student interest.
- Programming Club (we are still searching for a sponsor)
- Basketball Club (we are still searching for a sponsor)
- Jazz Band
- Publications: Yearbook, Literary Magazine, etc.
- Comic Book Club
- Drawing club
- Sports Prep Athletics Club
- Craftsman Club
- Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Lastly, we are continuing to use lockers. Students have options to visit less often or at different times. After the first few days, we have become much more efficient at opening them and there is very little time wasted during this transition. We had our first group of students decorating a friend's locker for their birthday this week. I'm happy to see the little things that make middle school special back in play.
Classes are looking more and more normal as students are working together in various Science activities.
News from the clinic: We do appreciate that our families are keeping students home if they are feeling under the weather. I know it can be frustrating at times, but it is imperative to have students avoid coming to Seneca when they are feeling unwell. I hope you understand if we end up sending students home from the clinic at a higher rate than we would normally under different circumstances. In the first 6 days of school, our visits to the clinic have been typical of a normal year prior to COVID.
We appreciate our parents helping us to keep students outside during lunch through our Lunch Volunteer Sign-Up. Although we have been overstaffed the first couple weeks, as we begin to spread a little thinner administratively, this support will truly help us keep the bees away.
Battle of Route 7
We are excited to announce that the 5th Annual Battle of Route 7 is coming up soon! This is our annual soccer match against Sterling Middle School and is a wonderful night for school spirit and Seneca pride. We will be holding tryouts for the grade level squads, aiming to have about 20 players per grade. Tryouts will be held on September 14 and 15, after school from 3:30-4:30. Students selected for the grade level squads will have practices on Wednesdays leading up to the big game on October 15 at Dominion High School. (These dates are shifted back a week from what was on the announcements this morning due to a scheduling conflict.) If your child would like to try out for the team, please complete this

Go Seneca! Beat Sterling!
I added the picture below of Sterling's last win in 2017 for a little extra motivation.
LCPS provides a large library of supported instructional software that is available for teacher and student use found in LCPSGo. At Seneca, we will utilize Schoology and the corresponding calendar for our assignments and summative assessments, along with several other common software applications.
There may be certain instances where teachers wish to use software applications with students that require parental consent, because of age restrictions. If teachers are going to use any software applications that require parental consent, you will first receive a Permission Click that you will need to complete. Teachers will follow up with parents if the form is not completed. LCPS has a Student Software Catalog that families may use to review software applications, found here: https://www.lcps.org/Page/235938. Please reach out to the specific teacher, if you have any questions about applications that require parental consent.
