Glen Oaks Family Focus
A weekly newsletter to deepen the home/school partnership.
Principals' Post - October 5, 2018
Beginning at 6:20, there will be five session times, each lasting 15 minutes. Families are allowed to choose whichever session they would like to attend. Sessions fill up quickly, and doors will close once a session has reached about 25 people. Raffle basket winners will be announced at 7:55 p.m. before our event closes at 8:00 p.m.
The book fair will also be open during Family Reading Night, so plan to stop in and shop for some new books! Reading EACH NIGHT at home provides our Panthers with an opportunity to step away from reality and enter the world painted by a story. Just 20 minutes a night makes a HUGE difference, as illustrated by the graphic below.

Safety Notice
This letter is to inform you of a voicemail received by a teacher at Glen Oaks School. Glen Oaks School is committed to the safety of all students and staff members, as well as clear communication with our families.
This morning, a teacher accessed her voicemail and uncovered a message that was left last evening. Based upon the content of the message, the Hickory Hills Police Department was contacted, responded, and began an investigation.
As a precaution, staff and students remained in their classrooms and breakfast was delayed. Upon further investigation, it was found that the message was directed solely at the teacher and there was no threat directed toward any other staff or students in the building. At approximately 9:00 A.M., it was determined that staff and students should return to their normal routine.
At this time, the Hickory Hills Police Department is continuing their investigation. We will continue to work in cooperation with the police and will issue disciplinary action as necessary.
As always, our number one goal is the safety and security of our students and staff and we value the quick response and support of the Hickory Hills Police Department.
