About Francisco
Francisco was born in Trujillo, Spain in 1474 and grew up without learning to read or write. He is the son of Gonzalo Pizarro and Francisca Gonzalez. He became a Spanish explorer and conquistador. He lived until 1541, when Pedro de Almagro (Cortes' captain) assassinated him after wanting to seize Lima, Peru for its riches.
Francisco's Greatest Achievements!
Francisco came to America in 1510 and took part in a number of explorations. One of which he helped Vasco Nunez de Balboa to discover the Pacific Ocean in 1513. He then set sail with Alonzo de Ojeda where Ojeda founded the city of San Sebastian. One of his more famous discoveries was his conquering of the Incan Empire, not to mention he destroyed Peru's capital, Cuzco, and found Lima, its new capital.
