Sierra Family Newsletter October 23, 2020
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Please make sure you read my latest email explaining how to schedule parent conferences this year, as well as check out the minimum day schedule attached to that same email, as conference week and Nov. 9th will be minimum days (the same information is also below in the conferences section and the bell schedule link).
Thank you to two parents who volunteered for our two open positions on our School Site Council mentioned in last week's Shark News! Click here for the ballot for our two open positions.
Thank you to everyone who has already purchased books through our Book Fair! Our book fair profits go right back into new books for our library shelves, for our sharks to enjoy!
If your shark would like to participate in the pumpkin-decorating contest, all submissions are due this Sunday night! I shared directions in last week's Morning Announcements video and the submission form is posted in each google classroom. I will be compiling the entries into a ballot for student voting next week. The ballot will be posted in every Google Classroom next week.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
Amy Westberg

Fall Conferences - Please sign up!
Dear Sierra Families:
To give you greater flexibility in scheduling Parent/Teacher Conference appointments, Sierra Elementary School offers conference scheduling via the internet. Beginning at 12:01 am Sunday, November 1, 2020, and running until 11:59 pm on Sunday, November 8, 2020, you will have the opportunity to access the conference schedule of your child’s teacher and pick an available time that best fits your schedule. The simple step-by-step instructions below can be used to help you schedule your conference. In RVC? RVC teachers will contact you about their system to set up conference times.
Because of the pandemic, our teachers will be offering conferences virtually, via Zoom this year, so you can join the parent-conference from wherever you have internet access.
Your teachers will be sharing the zoom access information prior to your conference.
Step-By-Step Parent/Guardian Instructions
Go to the Online Scheduler HERE.
Choose your student’s school from the drop-down list and click “GO.”
Enter the school password (sharks).
Enter your student’s “Student ID”. If you cannot remember their Student ID, use the LOOKUP STUDENT ID button to access the system.
Verify the student’s birth date.
A list of your student’s teachers will be displayed. Check the box next to the name of each teacher(s) you would like to meet with.
If you have more than one student in the school you can see all of your teacher’s schedules at one time by answering YES to this question “Do you want to schedule conferences for another student?” then repeat the steps above for your other students. If you only have one student, answer NO to that question.
You will then see the available time slots for each teacher you selected.
Select the times that work best for your schedule.
Enter your email address (recommended) if you would like an email reminder sent to you. (Your email address is kept private.)
Once you finish you can confirm your appointment details and print your conference schedule.
Write down the Confirmation Number (you will need this number to cancel your appointment).
If you have not made an appointment by midnight on Sunday, November 8, your child’s teacher will make an appointment for you and notify you of the date and time in a note that will be sent home.
We are confident that you will find this is an easy way to make and change appointments. Please take full advantage of the system. If you would like assistance in learning to schedule your conferences online, please call or come by the school office during regular business hours and we will be happy to help you.

We have put together goodie bags for each Sierra student that teachers will distribute. If you are a Sierra RVC student, please come to the office to pick up your bag from the basket inside the front office.
