Join your student for the Thanksgiving Feast on November 20

The waiting is over! Chef Matt is once again preparing a delicious Thanksgiving Feast for our students, parents and grandparents at lunchtime on Thursday, November 20th. If you do plan to join us that day for lunch, please RSVP to bmeeks@tpcs.org, as soon as possible so that Chef Matt will be prepared with enough food that day for all. The tantalizing menu includes:

  • Sliced Turkey
  • Bread Stuffing
  • Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
  • Green Beans with Craisins
  • Dinner Roll
  • Applesauce
  • Pumpkin Pie Bar

In an effort to give you more time to enjoy your meal and less time waiting in line, we'd like for you to purchase your lunch ticket ($5) ahead of time at the front desk.

K-6 Christmas Program and Band Concert- December 15

The TPCA K-6 Christmas Program and the Band Program are both on December 15 in the Traders Point Christian Church Worship Center.


The K-6 Christmas program will begin at 6:00 PM. Students are to wear nice clothes – no sweat pants, jeans or t-shirts with large graphics. Girls may wear slacks, skirts or dresses as long as the dresses are near knee length or longer. If you have any questions regarding the K-6 Christmas program, please contact Mrs. Carol Evans cjevans@tpcs.org.


The band program will begin at 7:30, but students should arrive at 7:00 and should wear their Band and Strings uniforms. If you have any questions regarding the band program, please contact Mr. Nathan Perry nperry@tpcs.org.


If you come across the bridge on 334 (Whitestown Parkway), remember that it will be Christmas season and the traffic is extremely heavy on the bridge. Please allow extra travel time or consider an alternate route to the school building. The programs will begin promptly at 6:00 and 7:30.

Please Complete Your TPCA All-School Parent Survey by Friday, November 21

Parents - please take just a few minutes to complete the parent interest survey that Ron Evans, Head of School, sent to you last week. We need your feedback by Friday, November 21st as we make big plans for TPCA's future! It is brief and really does only take about 10 minutes to complete for one student. Your time is very much appreciated - so much that we will credit you with one full hour of service time!

After School Clubs Showcase: Nov 20th

TPCA will host the After School Club "Showcase" next Thursday, November 20th in the cafeteria from 5:45 - 6:30 PM. provide opportunities for ALL of our students who participate in after school clubs will have the opportunity to either present or display their accomplishments over the last 10 weeks.

Even if you do not have a child currently in a club, come and learn about the great club opportunities for the second after school club session which begins in February.

High School Fall Social "Wild West Fest" November 22

TPCA High School students won't want to miss the "Wild West Fest" on November 22 at from 6:00-10:00. Come dressed in your jeans and plaid shirt and the rest of your cowboy/cowgirl gear. We will have tons of fun:

  • roasting hot dogs/marshmallows
  • DJ with music and line dancing
  • corn hole
  • bobbing for apples
  • hayride
  • ladder ball
  • photo booth
  • and more!

TPCA Lockdown Protocol

Some of you may have heard that Zionsville West MS and Boone Meadows schools were on lockdown yesterday. We were told by the police that it was an internal matter and that our school was not threatened. If we had been notified by the police of a threat to our school, you would have been notified of the situation immediately by Parent Alert.


Please remember that during a lockdown, we cannot let anyone, including parents, enter the building until we are given the all-clear by law enforcement. We will ensure that your child is safe and protected inside the school building by following the protocols of both law enforcement and the TPCA Safety Team during a lock down situation.

TPCA's NEW Legislative Liason: Brent Shike

A BIG thank you to TPCA dad, Brent Shike, who has volunteered to serve as our Legislative Liason. Watch for regular updates from Mr. Shike in the Weekly newsletter.

Starting in 2009, INPEA (Indiana Non-Public Education Association) asked all non-public schools across the state to appoint a legislative liaison for the school. This volunteer (typically a politically active parent) serves as a conduit between the INPEA office and each school community on public policy issues. The role of the liaison is to assist the school administration in keeping parents informed of important non-public school issues that are being addressed for possible legislation (in the General Assembly) or regulation (at the IDOE or State Board of Education). They play an important role in engaging parents when a unified voice needs to be heard in Indianapolis on issues affecting non-public schools, positively or negatively.

JH and HS Girls: Christian Perspective on Self-Image

Helping Our Daughters Know Who They Are In Christ
Spend just a few minutes viewing any media and you will gain a shocking picture of how our culture views women. What impact is this having on our girls' self-image? How can we help them to value themselves in Christ rather than through the prevalent cultural lies about who they are?


We are very pleased to share that Traders Point is partnering with you to help your daughters learn who they are in Christ by bringing a special speaker to meet with our junior and senior high ladies during Mentor Group time in November about this important topic. TPCA mom Dr. Lori Hoffeditz is a Christian Licensed Mental Health Counselor who loves Jesus, has a passion for TPCA and the heart to help our daughters look toward Christ for their self-image. Dr. Hoffeditz uses biblical guidance, bringing to light any darkness and/or lies that our girls may believe about themselves. We need to come alongside of them as women in Christ and help them fight the lies with truth!


All junior high female mentor groups and leaders will meet with Dr. Hoffeditz on Friday, November 14 during mentor group time.

TPCA Employment Opportunity

Traders Point Christian Academy is looking for qualified candidates to apply for the position of Admissions Assistant. The Admissions Assistant is responsible for working with the Director of Admissions for the effective management of the details and scheduling of all admission efforts. The candidate should be experienced in handling a wide range of administrative related tasks, comfortable working personally with school constituents and the public and be able to work independently.

QUALIFICATIONS
Educational and Experience Requirements:
HS diploma required; BA degree preferred. Minimum of three years of related experience. Commitment to the mission of Traders Point Christian Academy. Self-assurance, responsibility, positivity, excellent organizational skills; attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure; effective communication skills, both verbal and written; high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs, especially MS Word, Outlook and Excel; ability to plan, manage and execute admission events; be a creative problem solver.

Fun Service Opportunity: PA Announcers Needed!

The TPCA Athletic Department is in need of one or two people who would be willing to serve as a PA Announcer for our MS & JH Basketball games this Winter. This opportunity will count toward the Volunteer hours, and also comes with a concession stand credit for each game worked. Ident-A-Kid Services at TPCA on November 18

Ident-A-Kid Services of America, Inc. has provided the nation’s largest Child Identification Program for almost 30 years. They create child ID cards which provide parents and law enforcement with crucial information should a child become lost or missing. The Ident-A-Kid Program will be at TPCA on Tuesday, November 18th from 8:45 am - 10:15 AM to photograph, fingerprint, weigh and measure children for ID cards. Participation in the program is optional.

Cost per child:

1 card- $8

3 cards + eKid- $ 11

5 cards + eKid -$15.

If you purchase 3 or more ID cards you may have the have the student’s ID card sent to the parents’ CELL PHONE. Parents will receive a laminated wallet-sized ID card (similar to a driver’s license), with their child’s information and picture. An application envelope with additional information about the Ident-A-Kid Program will be sent home with the students one week prior to the program date. Non-TPCA siblings are welcome!

Grandparents' Day Date Change

Grandparents' Day has been moved from the fall to the spring this year. Mark your calendars and let all the wonderful grandparents in your child's life know that we will have a special day planned for them on Monday, April 13, 2015! More details to come...

Important News … We’re Starting FRESH!

The Marsh Fresh Ideas for Education program has been in existence for over nine years. During that time thousands of shoppers have registered their Fresh IDEA, OMalia’s CouponPLUS and MainStreet Market Reward$ card and many of those cards have been lost, shoppers have moved away and children have moved on to other schools or graduated.


In order for the program to more accurately and fairly represent the efforts of active schools Marsh is requiring all card holders re-enroll for the 2014-2015 program in order to continue to earn credit for Traders Point Christian Academy.
