Jawsome Scheduling to occur every Day 1 in the schedule
We are moving to a new scheduling "advisory" period each DAY ONE in our 7-day schedule, for the remainder of the year to schedule Jawsome.
This is a reminder that students will report to their "advisory" teacher (during Jawsome A or B) on Tuesday, March 26 during Jawsome. As we transition to this new system to simplify our scheduling process, Monday, March 25 will need to be scheduled by students on their own by Monday morning after first block.
Students, please take the time today, or over the weekend to schedule your Monday Jawsome block. Teachers, please remind students today and Monday morning.
Thank you and have a great weekend!
Personal Computers Policy
In order to maintain compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), Monomoy Regional School District does not allow the use of student owned personal computers (laptops, tablets, etc.) on the district network. Non-school issued devices also pose network security risks, digital equity issues, and device monitoring issues. Students found using a personal computing device on the district network will face disciplinary action and possible confiscation of the personal device with return of the device to his/her parent. All students in grades 5-12 are issued a Chromebook to be used in the classroom for educational purposes. Use of personal “hotspots”, either in phones or on a separate device, are also not allowed during school hours since they will not be filtered by our system and therefore be out of compliance with the CIPA requirements. Variations to this policy can be made at the discretion of the building principal.
Parents/Guardians for Class of 2021 - MCAS Information
Dear Parents/Guardians for the class of 2021-
Monomoy Regional High School will be administering the Grade 10 English Language Arts MCAS on March 26th and 27th where each student in grade 10 will be tested. These test dates are set by the state of Massachusetts and therefore consistent attendance during these days is extremely important.
The MCAS test results will be used to determine student eligibility for a high school diploma. In addition, The John and Abigail Adams Scholarship is given to high school students who perform exceptionally well on each of the MCAS exams would give the students an opportunity for reduced tuition at a Massachusetts state college or university.
In an effort to maximize results on the exam, please urge your child to eat a nutritious breakfast on the days of testing, and suggest as much sleep as possible on the nights prior to the exam. As always, if you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
Sincerely,
Jennifer L. Police
Assistant Principal
Monomoy Regional High School

Ad Lucem: Exploring Monomoy’s Ancient Roots
Few maritime icons are as recognizable or evocative as a proud lighthouse standing guard on a lonely coastline. For millennia, the lighthouse has served as a protective sentinel for mariners navigating the dangerous currents, shifting shoals, and powerful storms in the world’s oceans and waterways.
Mrs. Albis’ Latin 2 classes recently embarked on a virtual “tour” of the Seven Wonders of the
Ancient World. Among these seven incredible structures was the Lighthouse of Alexandria in
Egypt, which may have been the first lighthouse in the world and the prototype for all future
lighthouse construction. Students then explored literary references to lighthouses in Greek and Roman mythology, and studied the first ancient Roman Lighthouse, which was built in Spain in the 2nd century A.D. and still stands today.
The Latin 2 students then connected their study of lighthouses in the ancient world to our 21 st century school by researching Monomoy’s Latin motto, “Ad Lucem” and our symbol, the Monomoy Lighthouse.
We are now reaching back through the centuries to explore Cape Cod’s maritime roots and the history of its other lighthouses. Each student will become a “lighthouse historian” by researching one of the 15 lighthouses on Cape Cod, and then constructing a miniature model of it. Finally, students will analyze their research to compare and contrast their Cape lighthouse to the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria.

Athletics Weekly Summary
March 18th - March 22nd
Written by: Caroline Howard
Well folks, it looks like Spring has finally sprung! So, pull those colorful tops out of the closet and get ready for some sunshine! But, fashion isn’t the only thing to be excited about for spring, as this week marked the first practices for our Spring athletes! Every team has been getting back into the swing of things, for some quite literally! So, batter up!
Last Sunday, we had our Winter Sports Award night for all of the winter athletes. Wow was this one heck of a night! The athletes, coaches, and parents all got to be apart of a lovely celebration for our Basketball, Hockey, and Cheerleading teams. Not to mention, Monomoy All Sports Booster Clubs’ generous gift of hats for all of the athletes! Make sure you hold onto those! Overall, a wonderful night put together by our Athletics Department and for all of our athletes and coaches!
Well folks, as we give our teams time to get ready for their seasons, unfortunately, I am out of news! But, don’t worry folks, games and matches will be here before you know it! For now, I’m Caroline Howard and Go Sharks!
