Halo Highlight: Curriculum Corner with Mary Villaume
Currently, St. Louis Catholic High School administers the Star Reading and Star Math tests three times per year. This helps us track the progress of our students throughout the school year. The tests are invaluable in giving us data that helps guide instruction in our classes.
On Monday during our teacher in-service, we spent time with the trainer from Renaissance, the company that makes the Star tests, learning how to turn the data from the tests into a plan for learning. As we begin the second quarter, our Math and English teachers will utilize this training to develop and to assign lessons geared toward helping our students master the concepts needed to be successful in class. We are looking forward to learning how this individualized, differentiated learning will impact student success!
Announcements - Safety & Facilities, Late Start Wednesday
Student Safety
Our top priority at St. Louis Catholic is and always will be providing a safe and secure campus for our students. Recently we have experienced a rash of vehicle break-ins, and we are actively working to remedy the situation by collaborating with local law enforcement and other stakeholders. We are hopeful that no further incidents will occur.
Please remind your student to never leave any valuables within sight, lock doors and report ANY suspicious activity immediately. We are reevaluating our crisis plans while utilizing local experts for suggestions to make other safety updates. Several immediate changes have been made, from adding security cameras, adding patrols and assigning parking lot duty, and a list of other improvements created for the near future.
With this in mind, all visitors are reminded to come only through the main office and sign in. Finally the CPSO K9 unit conducted a search last week and will continue throughout the year to help ensure a safe and drug-free campus. We know you love your SAINT, and we do too!
Next Week's Schedule
- On Wednesday, Oct. 23, students will have a late start due to a faculty meeting. Students must report by 9 a.m. Again we will offer Adoration open to all families before school in the Commons from 7-9 a.m.
- Senior parents: Graduate Sales will be back next Thursday at lunch for all final orders. Please complete the necessary paperwork and send payment.
