Remote Learning Plan for ORHS
As you may have heard, CISD will begin the school with 100% remote learning. The impact of this decision on students at Oak Ridge High School is the following:
1. All courses, regardless of level (Honors, AP, DC, Level) will be offered 100% virtually through the week of September 4, 2020. Students and teachers will utilize Canvas as the primary source of instruction.
2. Teachers will be working on campus and may have synchronous learning times, but all assignments and assessments will be completed in an asynchronous fashion. This means that all assignments students will need to login to Canvas daily and complete assignments and other tasks to be considered present for the class.
3. As of right now, all strength and conditioning and after school extra-curricular activities (including but not limited to band, football, choir, volleyball, clubs, drill team, color guard, etc.) will be allowed to practice after school so long as they follow UIL and CDC guidelines.
4. Technology will be a massive need for students. We do have Chromebooks and some hotspots for families. Please submit an answer to this form to get technology for your student. You will need to log-in to the SSO in order to fill out this survey. To log into the SSO you will use your student's CISD username and password.
5. Please communicate with us and let us know what we can do to help. This is uncharted territory - but we will do this together and we will be ok.
Dress Code for Next Year
We have decided that our dress code policy was slightly antiquated and we are updating it for the next school year.
The dress code is considered gender-neutral, meaning young men and young women will be held to the same standards of dress.
The main focus is keeping the body clothed from armpit to armpit and down through the middle of the thigh. Undergarments should be covered and nothing should be worn on the head unless there is an administrative exception given to an individual student for medical or religious reasons.
Grading Policy for Next Year
See the image below for details. Our retest policy is still being developed as is our exemption policy.
