August Newsletter- Back to School Edition

ELC Beginning of the School Year

Welcome to the 2020-21 School Year!


I am so excited to welcome our families to ELC this school year and know we will collaborate as a community to overcome any obstacles! Teacher placements are now available in Infinite Campus.


We are starting the school year under different circumstances than I would have wanted. However, plans are being put in place every day to make learning effective and engaging for our students when they return to school on August 24th. Teachers and therapists are planning and preparing for an exciting start to the school year. I am so looking forward to seeing each of you, either virtually or in person. I am going to focus this letter on four specific areas to start the school year:


  • Meet the Teacher

  • Distance Learning Class Schedule

  • School Supply Pick-Up and iPad Distribution

  • Health Expectations When Visiting the Building

Meet the Teacher

Our Meet the Teacher will be in a virtual format this school year. Next week, our teachers will communicate with you their specific zoom link to meet as a classroom community.


Friday, August 21st


  • 9:00am AM Preschool
  • 10:30am Dual Language Kindergarten
  • 12:30pm PM Preschool


*In addition to our Meet the Teacher meetings, our teachers will be reaching out to you to schedule 1:1 zoom meetings or phone calls to develop and deepen our home-school connections.

Distance Learning Class Schedule

Preschool: Our students will be engaging in a daily live circle time with their teachers and therapists. We will offer a combination of pre-recorded lessons, live lessons, and activities through seesaw during the morning or afternoon that your child is scheduled. Seesaw will the primary platform for our distance learning communication and instruction. Students will also be provided meaningful feedback in seesaw to encourage growth.


*Our ELC team is currently working on a plan to bring a very small number of students to ELC who have complex, special education needs. Our teachers will communicate more information regarding this if your child requires this level of support.


Dual Language Kindergarten: Our students will be engaging in daily live meetings via zoom with their teachers. In addition to live instruction, students will have activities and lessons in seesaw. Seesaw will the primary platform for our distance learning communication and instruction. Students will also be provided meaningful feedback in seesaw to continue the cycle of learning and language immersion.

School Supply Pick-Up/iPad Distribution

  • School Supplies: ELC has purchased materials and manipulatives that our teachers and assistants will be putting together for our Preschool and Kindergarten students.

  • iPads: We will be providing iPads to all of our Kindergarteners and any Preschool student that needs an iPad. At this time, our district technology department is working hard to deliver iPads to ELC soon.


*Once our supplies and iPads are prepared and ready, then I will send out communication regarding our pick up schedule.

Health Expectations when visiting ELC

  • When visiting, we will utilize a paper questionnaire for you and your child for health verification, coupled with a temperature check. If you answer yes to any of the questions, please do not come to school. Please reschedule your appointment or arrange for a Zoom appointment with your child’s teacher. We will provide more details in an upcoming communication about a self-certification app the district plans to use for students who visit school for academic support.

  • Please remember to always bring a driver's license or ID to check in with the office.

  • Masks are required upon entering the building and must remain on through the entire visit.

  • Upon entering the building, please take a moment to sanitize your hands at the available kiosks.

  • Follow the social distancing and traffic flow patterns that have been designated on the floor of the facility.

  • Social distancing (6 feet or more) must be adhered to when in the building.
