This month at the Murray Avenue Library, students are participating in the You Can Do the Cube Challenge using 180 Rubik’s cubes to build a student-designed mosaic. Stop by the library at lunch to solve a cube!
Students are invited to visit the library with a pass during the week of October 22nd-26th for Haunt the Library, short spooky tales told by LED candlelight.

Students Tour Applied Engineering and Mechatronics Technologies Facility
Eighth grade students are preparing for the Future City Competition (www.futurecity.org). The Future City Competition requires middle school students to develop a city of the future by building a model, writing the city’s story, making a virtual representation of the city, and ultimately presenting the city to a group of judges in the engineering field.
This year’s challenge, “Powering Our Future,” requires students to create a city of the future with particular attention paid to power grid resiliency. As part of their research, students spent some time at the Bucks County Technical High School in Fairless Hills to tour their Applied Engineering and Mechatronics Technologies facilities. The Applied Engineering Technologies class, led by teacher Mr. Alex Doman was recently awarded a $20,000 grant from Dow to build a learning center for sustainable energy. Our students toured the facilities and learned some applicable technologies for use in their future city.
Athletic Highlights
The Murray Ave. Girls Soccer team is 5-0 so far in their season. With the way this team is playing, they have a great chance to take home the championship this year. The teamwork, comradery and practice with Ms. Neto has really been working this season!
The Boys Soccer team has been on a winning spree as well! They recently defeated an extremely tough opponent Keith Valley Middle School by a score of 1-0. Coach Derek has complimented the commitment and teamwork these boys are bringing each and every day to the field! Keep up the good work!
Girls Basketball tryouts will be held on Mon., Nov. 5, Wed., Nov. 7, and Thurs., Nov. 8 in the upper gym from 3:15-5:00 pm. All students attending tryouts should get picked up in the back parking lot at 5:00 PM.

When to Keep a Child Home From School
In order for your child to be able to learn and to control communicable diseases in the
school it is important to keep your child home for the following reasons:
-Temperature of 100 degrees or more. Your child should be fever free (without Tylenol or Motrin) for 24 hours before returning to school.
-If your child vomited or had diarrhea during the previous evening or night, please keep him/her home.
-Strep throat – your child must be on an antibiotic for 24 hours before returning to school.
-Swollen, red eyes that itch and are draining – your child must be on an antibiotic for 24 hours before returning to school for bacterial conjunctivitis and drainage free and/or a note from the doctor.
-An unusual rash, a blistery rash, or a rash associated with a fever. Your child should remain at home until you have discussed the rash with your physician.
