Regarding Homeroom Assignments
As an FYI, the weekly update that will go out Friday evening includes communication to families that there will be some student homeroom assignment changes if/when LCPS transitions to the hybrid model for K-5. Click here for an excerpt of this communication.
Since our collective focus is ensuring that we are meeting all of our students' needs, making meaningful connections and getting the year off to a positive start in 100% distance learning, questions about what classes may look like as we shift will be addressed as we proceed through the fall. Alternate homeroom assignments are currently in progress and there are a number of considerations both instructionally and operationally that will require planning, communication and collective work along the way. Please direct any parent questions you might receive about this to the office and we will respond. Everyone has plenty on their plate and given the unknowns with the Covid-19 situation, it is not necessary to engage in discussions with parents or offer comments. We all know information and plans will change. Most importantly, we don't want to make ourselves crazy! Please let me know what questions you may have.
Forward with School Workday Updates/Reminders
The outline for the next few weeks can be found here. If changes are made or additional information is received, the document will be updated.
*CLT Meetings- we will create Google Meet links and place them in the workday outline. Chris/Maria will send some items to include on the agenda.Team Leaders should prepare the agenda document for participants.
*Please email Chris the SEL certificate after completing the three modules in Second Step.
*Homeroom assignments will be sent to families on/before Monday by email using the school communication system. We'll email grade level teams as the emails are sent for awareness and knowing that some wanted to send a postcard, etc.
*Student placement cards will be put in teacher boxes on Monday.
*LCPS has said that the elementary virtual school day for students is 8am-3pm. No plans to change at this time. When we change to in-person learning, times will shift back to the usual times.
*Similar to June, mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing continue. Thank you to everyone for being diligent about signing in/out on the days where on site work and events occur.
*Chromebook/Tool Kit Distribution and Meet and Greets-- Drive-by style with families in cars, social distancing and masks. Vehicles will be routed for device pick up and then to the Meet and Greet/Tool Kit pick up. Meet&Greet consists of waving (spirit wear, positive signs welcome too!) providing for a first-positive connection and visibility with staff students and parents. Non homeroom teachers should attend with the grade level whom you work.
*Please send Chris/Maria your team's BTSN presentation two days prior so that we can work on translation.
