Good luck to our Dance Team as they compete in their first tournament held at South Elgin High School this coming Wednesday, Nov. 30th at 5:00 pm. Their routine looks amazing - and they have been practicing non-stop to prepare for this event!

Marian Central to host Hesburgh Lecture Series on Thursday, December 1st at 6:30pm

This year, the Notre Dame Club of McHenry County is most fortunate to have as its speaker in this series, the distinguished Professor Ken Dye, Director of Bands and Music at the University of Notre Dame. It is a rare opportunity for a local club to be able to present such a noteworthy and widely acclaimed speaker as Dr. Dye.

In addition to the information concerning Dr. Dye mentioned in the flyer linked above, you may find even more regarding his background at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_of_the_Fighting_Irish Notre Dame's band, "The Band of the Fighting Irish" is the oldest university band in continuous existence in the United States; having begun in 1846. Currently the marching band has more than 380 musicians; many on music/band scholarships. It makes appearances throughout the USA as well as internationally.

Due to the anticipated large audience for this event, it is being held at the performing arts auditorium at Marian Central High School, in Woodstock, which seats 500 guests. There is no charge for this walk-in-the-door event and we anticipate having some light refreshments available.Don't miss this opportunity to hear and meet one of the country's most renowned university band leaders. Dr. Dye's topic of "Music and the Olympics" (several of which he helped choreograph) will cover a unique area of music.

PreACT Results Shared with Students

This week, Guidance distributed the results of the PreACT test to the freshmen and sophomores. All students received their PreACT results, a booklet entitled "Using Your PreACT Results" (which we are linking a copy for your convenience) and the actual test booklet. We hope you find this information helpful for your students. Please don't hesitate to contact our wonderful Guidance staff should you have any questions or concerns!

Attention Seniors working on college applications!

Please be aware that the Guidance office is closed during Christmas break. If you are applying to any colleges/universities that have application deadlines of January 1st through January 15th, you will need to turn in your transcript and recommendation (if applicable) requests to Guidance by no later than Monday, December 12th, in order to give our staff enough time to process your request. If you are using the Common Application, this also means that you will need to at least invite Mrs. Reed, the senior counselor, by that time too (December 12th.) If you are unsure of how to do any of this, please stop by the Guidance Office before December 12th!

Did you know that we will be hosting almost 70 high schools this week?

Every year, our school hosts the McHenry County Band Auditions. This year, this event will take place on Wednesday, November 30th from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Our Auditorium, Band Room and several classrooms are transformed into audition spaces for every musical instrument imaginable, as students display their passion and talent in this audition process. Mr. Rome and our dedicated student-musicians faithfully host and coordinate this event, further showcasing our amazing facility. Thank you to this incredible group for throwing our school doors open wide and welcoming such beautiful music into our halls.
