June 12th- Last Day of Remote Learning

I cannot believe that we are coming up on our last week of the school year.

While this year has been anything but normal, we've made it through...together!

Thank you to all of the families who worked with us to ensure that we all remained as connected as possible! 92% of our students logged into zoom lessons at least once during this time of remote learning and even more than that remained engaged through completing online lessons and activities! This was only possible with your support!

As you move into the summer, we hope that, after taking a much needed and deserved break from their chromebooks, students will continue to remain engaged through the use of Dreambox and Imagine Learning over the summer! Be on the lookout for some fun challenges!

We hope that you all have a fun and safe summer!

Love,

Mrs. Ross

Yearbook Update!

Due to complications caused by Covid-19, we have yet to receive yearbooks.

We are fully prepared to mail them out to families who have already

purchased them as soon as they arrive!

End of the Year Pack Up/Pick Up

Families will have the opportunity to pick up belongings left in the building during the week of June 15th.

Teachers will pack up all student belongings and have them available for pick up in the auditorium lobby. We will use the same system that we used for device deployment where you will pull up, we will get your child's name, and then retrieve the items you need. Families will not need to exit their cars or enter the buildings.

We are preparing to gather items left in desks/cubbies and instruments. If your child has other items that need to be retrieved (i.e. headphones, glasses, etc.), please make your child's teacher aware so that he/she can gather those items as well.

*Field trip money will be returned at this time*

CSD Elementary Summer Learning Program

#WEread for FUN! (And love math too!)

To help our youngest students build a love of reading, Colonial is excited to offer an engaging and enriching learning opportunity for students entering 1st to 5th grade during the 2020-21 school year. Participating students will receive picture book(s) or a novel, an activity choice board, and creative materials that will be used from July 6th to August 6th.

Students will have the option of participating in a daily Zoom session (30-45 minutes) with a Colonial teacher that connects them with other students reading the same book. The teacher will also provide engaging and fun ELA and Math activities that they can complete throughout the day. As a parent, you can decide if your child participates in the choice board activities at home, the zoom lessons, or everything being offered to extend their learning this summer!

Tylers Camp for Rising 6th Graders

Starting on July 6th and finishing on August 6th, SummerCollab will be offering virtual programming for rising 6th graders (our current 5th graders)!

They will be providing live instruction in literacy and social-emotional learning each day while also providing access to an online portal where students will be able to access a range of enrichment content. These can be anything from art, dance, fitness and STEM.

Chromebook Update

Colonial is allowing all students to continue using their devices throughout the summer. We are encouraging all students to participate in one of our summer programs or online learning challenges above.

If you are not planning to return to a Colonial school next year,

please contact Ms. Corsi (carmen.corsi@colonial.k12.de.us) to withdraw your child

and make arrangements for returning the device.

Student Registration is Still Happening!

We are still registering students for the 2020-2021 school year!

Click here to visit the district's registration website for detailed steps on how to complete the registration process! It says "kindergarten" registration, but you can follow these steps to register students at all grade levels!

If you have any questions, reach out to our school secretary, Ms.Corsi, at carmen.corsi@colonial.k12.de.us.

Chinese Immersion Updates

Due to low enrollment, we will be making some adjustments to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Chinese Immersion program. In each of those grade levels, there will be one Chinese Immersion homeroom instead of two. Our Chinese teachers are aware of this change and will be working diligently over the summer to be prepared to meet the needs of your students.

Tech Support

If you were not able to pick up a device at any of the previous device deployments, please note that on this form and the technology department will work with you to schedule a pick up.
