Attendance this week...

Our goal is 98% attendance and our attendance was 94% this week.

Remember: Students must be in attendance at least 90% of the days the class is taught in order to receive credit or a final grade in a class. We appreciate our parents' efforts in helping us minimize student absences and prepare our students for their futures!

Student Council Visit New Hope Manor Nursing Home

Big image

Over the past few weeks, LVMS Student Council members and Mrs. Burke's art classes collaborated together to create Easter Cards and Posters for the residents at New Hope Manor nursing home. Student Council members took a field trip on Thursday, April 13th to New Hope Manor to visit the nursing home residents and deliver cards to each resident. The students and the nursing home residents had a wonderful time visiting with each other and the nursing home residents loved their Easter cards and posters. Several student council members commented that it made them feel good to do something nice for others. A few of the students met an elderly couple who lived in the nursing home together and had been married for 70 years.

Student Council Food Drive

Pictures of Student Council loading all of the canned goods from the food drive onto a trailer this morning to be delivered to Rolling Hills Community Church food pantry. What they can't fit in their food pantry for our community, will be delivered to Hill Country Ministries Food Pantry. The LVMS Student Council sponsored the "You CAN Do It" food drive and collected over 2000 canned goods and nonperishable food items. Mr. Black's 3rd period class brought in the most cans and won the Student Council sponsored pizza party last Thursday.

Thank you to the student council members and Ms Reighley for organizing this!!

Save the date.......

Our ESL parents have decided to host a district/community wide Noche Mexicana on Friday, April 28th from 6:00-8:00pm in the grassy area between the High School and the PAC.

Plans are to set it up like a fair or carnival with several different food booths, a craft booth for the kids, a Ballet Folklorico area, a pinata area, maybe a jumpy house.
