DAILY Music at HES!
Next Monday we will begin our weekly music playing as the students arrive.
This year it will be based on the Brummitt-Taylor Music Listening Program, but it will be tailored to our likes and needs etc.
This week's featured composer is George Frideric Handel.
The composition is the Minuet from the Water Music.
Handel composed this music 300 years ago for the King of England, King George I. It was called the Water Music because it was first performed at a party King George gave on barges on the River Thames in London. A newspaper from that day, July 9, 1717, tells us that "his majesty liked the music so well that he asked for it to be played three times in going and returning"
HESpotlight...welcome to our new staff members at HES!
Amanda Malone - Third grade Classroom Teacher
My passion for teaching was sparked as I started teaching dance and other arts programs. After graduating from Chatham High School, I attended George Mason University where I received my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction for Elementary Education. I am so excited to be back teaching in the community that also supported my growth, development, and love of learning. I enjoy teaching dance, the arts, spending time with my family who still live on the Cape, and exploring the natural beauty of our home.
Shannon Waldron - First Grade Classroom Teacher
Carol Fiocco - School Nurse
I am a native of Sudbury, MA and more recently lived in Reading, MA, but moved to the Cape nearly 10 years ago. While living on the Cape, I worked as a school nurse at the Parker Middle School in Reading and commuted many days a week. I decided I wanted to make the move to work and live on the Cape all of the time to be able to enjoy everything the Cape has to offer. I feel so fortunate I am now the School Nurse at the Harwich Elementary School.
Nursing was a second career for me. I have a degree in Elementary Education from Salem State University, worked at Fidelity Investments for a while, and then obtained a Nursing degree from Salem State University. I have two daughters and one new son-in-law as of last May. I enjoy yoga, spin classes, skiing, reading and spending time with my friends and family. I also enjoy the beaches of the Cape but you may see me on the ferries to the Islands as well. I enjoy working with the little ones! Please stop by to say hello, I look forward to meeting everyone!
