Sound of the Week: Tt
Sight Words: I, the, can ,we, see, a, like
This week we have been working on isolating and identifying the beginning sounds of words as well as breaking them up into onset and rime (beginning sound and remainder of the word) or blending the onset and rime together to identify a word. We also started practicing blending or "sounding out" CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words such as cat or sit AS WELL AS began working in our leveled reading groups this week!
Math
The kids started a unit on patterns this week. So far we have extended, created, and identified the pattern rule (chunk that repeats itself over again in the same order) in color and shape patterns.
Social Skills
This week's social skill focus for HAWKS was FAIRNESS. We will continue to learn about and practice fairness next week as well. Congratulations to Brielle for being September's monthly HAWKS medal award winner! Some time in the next couple of weeks, Brielle and the other medalists from grades K-5 will get to walk down to the bakery with Mr. Chick and Rowdy the Redhawk for a treat!
