Media News

Congrats to Anne Craven, special areas winner of one of our Michael P. White drawings! She was the only one to send me the "I'm in!" message. Way to go, Anne! Teachers, we will be calculating the classes with the highest percentage of participants in the reading program for the month of January. We will announce grade level winners soon!

This is going to be a busy month in the Media Center! The Book Fair returns at the end of February, and we will also be celebrating Read Across America that same week. Read on for the scoop on all the events!

Book Fair

Our Book Fair will be held from Feb. 20-28. Teacher Preview will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 3:30-4:15. Come and check out the books and create your "wish list." We will be doing the wish lists differently at this fair. Instead of filling out those pesky forms, we will give you a shopping bag. Fill it with the books you hope to receive, and just give it back to Mitzi or myself.

Student Previews will be held Feb. 20 and 21. The sign up binder will be available on Monday, Feb. 10. Kindergarten teachers, please make sure you have a "buddy" class when you sign up. Previews will be in 20 minute blocks.

Though we will be open on Feb. 21 for sales, we will not be doing whole class sales on Friday, Individual students, parents, and/or teachers may come to purchase books. If you'd like to bring your entire class to the Book Fair, we will have slots available Feb. 24-27. The last day, Feb. 28, will again be open for individual (last minute!) purchases until 1:00 p.m.

All proceeds from this Book Fair will be going towards the purchase of new furniture for our reading area by the magazines. We hope to purchase 6-8 soft chairs and ottomans, creating a great spot for students to relax and read or for teachers to bring small groups! Check out some of the pictures below to see the furniture we hope to purchase.
